I forgot how mine was shipped to me, but I remember it was really difficult to get it out of the box. Shipped vertically makes more sense to me. It would be easier to take out.

Well, I have had one.... See here

I am not so much mad at the fact that it leaked, but at the fact that it has been over 3 weeks and I still do not have my machine back!

That is certainly a very frustrating repair process. My hope that its an isolated incidence. Just don't understand why the machine wasn't completely inspected the first time. :(

I can confirm this and I can't believe there are people being skeptical.. It's only a change to the packaging!

At the AppleCentre I work in, all Powermac G5's received from about a week ago are coming in upright boxes. They are slightly thinner but a touch deeper. That's about it really. I've not opened one up to install RAM yet but I imagine the keyboard is at the top and is a similar lay out to iMac boxes.

Apple have been reducing the size of their packaging for years! I wonder how long this trend can continue! My iPod Mini (early 1st gen) box is bigger than a current iPod 60gb box.

Went to compusa yesterday and noticed that all the liquid cooled G5s are being shipped upright. This is a first. Have any G5 owners gotten a leaking G5? Why would they start to ship them in an upright box instead of the old one? Hmmm.
If a G5 could leak from turning it on its side then there would need to be more changes than a box change . Apple has recently started changing boxes to upright, phasing out the old. I feel the reasons easier to stack, ship and a hell of lot easier to carry in my experience of picking them up.

Thank you.

BTW: Wasn't trying to offend anyone. Sorry if I did. Just seeing if anybody ever got a leaking G5. Should have worded the title better.
Given that the liquid cooling system is completely closed, i.e. sealed, it doesn't matter how it's shipped. I have one, and I haven't had any problems at all in 10 months of hard use. And I agree with Duff-Man.
