Another utterly asinine response. Addressing silly character assessments of Jobs that are based on reading an excerpt of a book written by someone else about what Jobs supposedly did to someone else - along with the even sillier Hitler comparison - is hardly anywhere close to "worshipping." Try again.

There's way, way more than this book....

Not really. There's plenty on which to get a bit of an idea on how he sometimes conducted himself, but nothing on which to issue grand, final proclamations about his character of the sort seen in this thread. People are complicated. It's simply silly to pick up anecdotal snippets here and there and fancy oneself in a position to utter such an assessment.

No child should go through being denied. My dad did it with us and it stunk on ice.

I am not surprised by what I read in that excerpt, I just hope she’s okay now.

Yeah, this is a hard thing to read. Steve Jobs was a few months older than me, so my tech life followed his.

My father abandoned his wife, my Mother, my older sister at 9, myself at 1.5 and my Mother was pregnant with my younger sister. He was never heard from again and only last year did I discover he married another woman in New York and lived a life of plays, concerts and musicals. Like you said, not a pretty picture of a life as a result.

Sorry you and your family had to endure something like that too. I hope you are all okay despite your fathers’ actions.

do a quick Google search ... your first memories typically start at age 3-4yo but can be from 2-8yo depending on the person and experience. I am pretty sure she probably had theory which would of helped trigger some of those memories.

This is simply not true. It is extremely uncommon for any adult to have detailed memories from events that happened when they were 3 years old.

Steve Jobs is a classic narcissist. When he told Lisa, “I’m one of the most important people you’ll ever meet”, that was telling. Then he invited Lisa on yacht to see Bono so he could look like a good guy, while probably constantly ignoring her otherwise.

It’s a bitter pill to swallow for Lisa that her father is an ******* who didn’t love her. I hope she’s found healing

My first memory was when I was 2 years old. I remember it quite well, and it wasn't a life changing event. It was something simple. My brother and I got identical toys from mailing in cereal box tops. Mine was blue, his was red.

I think Lisa seems to have her head on straight despite any alleged "abuse". She's a successful journalist, contributed as a screenwriter to the "Steve Jobs" movie and her net worth is around $14 Billion mostly due to her father's inheritance.

Steve made up for his shortcomings later in life and Lisa has forgiven him. So should we.

lisa inherited money from jobs? i thought she was dirt poor like that grand daughter of warren buffet who was on oprah or something. seriously.

There's just no way to pretend Jobs wasn't awful to his daughter and to his ex-girlfriend, off and on, for most of his life.

It's documented and if it wasn't true, you know he would have solidly refuted it. There are also court documents and a paper trail for the tiny amount of money he paid in child support. And no doubt, for how he did stuff like refuse to pay tuition for her while she was in college.

This doesn't make him an awful person, though. No doubt there are subtleties to the situation that only they and his closest family are aware of and I don't think it's exactly any of my business, not really.

None of this changes anything about Steve Jobs the CEO of Apple. You can be a leader and a visionary in the worlds of tech and business and not be great at parenting a child. Especially one you didn't want in the first place.

Seems like he and his eldest sorted it all out by the end... as well as it could be sorted, I would think. Though, who knows? If he had lived longer, he may have treated her differently over time.

Depending on which sources you choose to believe. Maybe she did, maybe she didn't.
According to Fortune Magazine and Wikipedia, she inherited $25M, but other sources claim billions, while again others say nothing. Who are we to know. Maybe Laurene Powell-Jobs secretly gave some money to her. Lisa has no obligation to public;y disclose her wealth.

Besides the money, she did reconcile with her father.
