I'm fairly new to the world of Apple:

Mac Mini 1.2Ghz (I think) - only had it for a few weeks before I purchased...
iMac 17" White 1.6Ghz (I think)
iMac Aluminium, 2.0Ghz Core 2 Duo

Too many iPods
3 Apple TV's - it's a love/hare relationship
1 Airport Extreme
2 iPhones - was there on opening day for 2G and 3G.

Power Mac G4 AGP Graphics "Sawtooth" (I think) - 400Mhz
Power Mac G4 "Quicksilver" - Dual 1GHz
iMac G5 20" RevA - 1.8Ghz
PowerBook G4 15" Aluminium - 1.5Ghz
Mac Pro Early 2008 - Dual Quad 2.8Ghz

The iMac, PowerBook and Mac Pro still remain. Quicksilver is in daily use by my dad.

This post comes up every few years, but I love it anyway.

Apple computers/products used as kid:

1) Apple II+
2) Apple IIe

...as an adult:

3) Performa 600 and with this, I got on the internet.

...and ones I have owned:

4) 1996 Power Computing PowerTowerPro - and besides the internet, which was much friendlier with this machine over the Performa, this was my first full on graphics machine that could handle the Adobe Suite. This machine seemed so fast at the time, I didn't care that it was a clone.

5) 1999 iBook - I loved this machine and for the first time I was able to go mobile and have 300 Mhz at my fingertips which in 1999 was deemed the second fastest laptop in the world, by Steve Jobs, being just behind the 333 Mhz Powerbook. My 1999 era Compaq laptop, though it posted a faster Mhz rating, was slow by comparison.

6) 2000 Power Mac - dual 500 Mhz, three SCSI hard drives, and with this machine, I was able to run OS 9 and OS X on different hard drives. My Adobe Suite was not able to utilize both processors at the same time so it did not feel that much faster than using it on the PowerTowerPro or the iBook, but what the Power Mac had with 108 gigs of hard drive space on the three 36 gig drives was more space than I could possibly need at the time.

7) 2005 Mac mini - small but very fast with a 1.42 Ghz processor. While my other machines took forever to boot up, this machine boots up pretty quickly by comparison and is the only machine that runs OS X 10.4 without a hitch.

I suppose by 2011, I will have to get something in the Intel core duo family, 3 Ghz range, or even quad processor to keep what will be OS X 10.6, and with what will likely be a minimum standard of 4 gigs of RAM happy and running smoothly.

The speed of computers, just in my 30 years of usage, going from my dad's 1 Mhz machine, to a 60 Mhz machine, then to a 185 Mhz PowerPC chip, 300 G3, dual-500 G4s, and now a 1420 Mhz G4 machine is insane. I will at least triple the processing power with my next machine.
