Maybe I am an oldtimer here, but what about AC/DC. Not sure why they are left off, but it does seem that most of the 80's metal bands are on their....except maybe Iron Maiden. I'm at work and can't really tell about them.

Hey Schiffi-
need some german hip-hop? just e-mail tylerg@ku.edu .

I hope they do add some german stuff. My freundeskreis CD broke into a thousand pieces, and I can't find disk 2 of Fuer Die Welt by Fettes Brot

Apparently there are no other 80's pop fans here, but what the hey:

Survivor
REO Speedwagon (don't know if I have actually verified this)
Bob Seger

There are also a lot of good Christian Artists missing. I will hear a song on the radio and go to check, but they aren't in the ITMS.

I just don't understand this! Why would artists/labels (whoever makes that decision) NOT want their music on the iTunes music store? Artistic integrity?

Ha!

People. are. going. to. download. music.

Why not admit that to yourself and at least be on a great (the best) service where you get royalites? There will always be people like myself who want to hold that album in their hands, look at the cover/liner art, while listening the the CD all the way through with no pauses.

But how many people are like that? Not most. Most people would rather click around a few times on thier computer and have the song. Which is a great thing to be able to do, especially in a legal fashion such as with the iTMS.

Sorry for the rant, this logic just baffles me.....

Sex Pistols. Not that anybody probably cares, but it's odd that the mobiles hanging in the Apples Store advertising iTMS have the Sex Pistols album on them. Also missing Red Hot Chili Peppers.

the pistol's were one of the most influential bands in rock history but now their sting does not bite compared to the music i hear these days

johnny rotten is actually tame by comparison

Elton John
Beyonce
Backstreet Crap
Nsync
And all the other crappy boy bands
Jewel
Limp Bizket

… And ever song on the 2 Fast 2 Furious Soundtrack, songs that have no meaning yet everyone likes them.

Ok now for **** the iTMS needs.

S. Pumpkins
Nirvana (Bleach CD)
Taking Back Sunday
Tool, how can you not like them. They are like the radiohead of metal.
Velvet Acid Christ
Slayer (more of it)
Also more Rancid
Judas Priest (lol)
FNM
Placebo
Down and Above

Just more **** like that and less pop meaning less crap, **** poser tunes.

Um... what service are you on? Because most of the crappy boy bands, eminem and 50 cent are there. Placebo is also there.

Blue Man Group

Another one missing is Finch. It seems that their selection is starting with pop, and then branching out.

amon tobin

nicola conte

the ninja-tune label really needs to put the entire catalog on itms, i can't imagine that they do much brick and mortar business in the us.

good call. i can't see what would make the labels think twice about this, especially the small ones. i mean hell, nobody is buying CDs anymore. i haven't actually went to the store and purchased a CD in about a year. i just can't justify it anymore. besides my old CD collection all my music was stolen from p2p. however, i have a spent money at the iTMS and would continue to do so if they actually had some music that i liked.

Tadpole

Not that it matters, I've got both of their albums already :)

Plus I didn't expect them to be there, they haven't released anything in the US yet.

John Zorn

John Zorn (they only list 1 Naked City) and all his Tzadik stuff. and add some Winter& Winter, ECM and so on ...

Long Beach Dub All-Stars
Long Beach Short Bus

not to mention thousands of Anime and Video game soundtracks. If they had those, I would have bought 100s of dollars worth of songs.

I was under the impression that he was saying who should not be on the service. Hence "all the crappy boy bands" and stuff. I'd like to see the RHCP on iTMS, at least their new albums.

I was under the impression that they had Grateful Dead. THough, I got that impression from the CARS spoof that said

Which I personally found quite funny. And you should too, because I spent longer than I had to combining quotes.

[edit]I jsut realized I used the phrase "I was under the impression" twice in the context of 4 sentences. I was under the impression that I need to expand my list of handy phrases.[/edit]

While it doesn't surprise me, there is nothing from the following artists:
Yoko Kanno
Nobuo Uematsu
Yasunori Mitsuda
E Nomine

A little obscure though :p

Here is a list of bands not on the store that have sold around or over a million records, i.e. they're the most popular, and it would make sense if they showed up before some of the more obsure bands listed on this thread.

Jethro Tull
Grateful Dead
AC/DC
Bob Seger
Snoop Dogg
The Transplants
Paul McCartney
Lifehouse
The White Stripes

Jimmy Eat World

Beastie Boys
Metallica
Linkin Park
Foo Fighters

Beatles
