This post aims to consolidate information on which SATA SSDs do and don't work in PowerPC Macs equipped with an IDE/PATA interface, i.e. using some kind of SATA-to-PATA converter. This can include m.2, mSATA and "regular" 1.8"/2.5"/3.5" SATA SSDs as long as a SATA-to-PATA converter and the Mac's native PATA controller is involved.

The 256GB RunCore Pro IV PATA SSD is also a valid entry since it uses a SATA controller and an internal SATA-to-PATA bridge.

Setups involving a SATA host adapter card, i.e. not involving a SATA-to-PATA bridge, are not, however.

I’m curious: why were my three adds removed?
I have no idea. When I made my last edit on Saturday, I just added some controller info and didn't remove anything. Your additions show up in the history, so I'll readd them. Your additions and my last edit look to have been made at almost exactly the same time though, so maybe the forum software got confused?

Hello,

I upgraded my MacMini G4 Silent upgrade with a Transcend MSA230S 512GB SATA III and with a chenyang mSATA Mini SATA SSD to 2.5 Inch IDE 44-Pin.
Working well without a problem until now.
The hard drive speed access are better than on my iMac G5 SATA original Apple drive... I have to put a SATA SSD also in my iMac then :)
