Aha! Figured it out. When I logged into Chrome beta, it automatically applied my old Chrome Theme, which was not retina configured. Tricky Google. I went back to the default theme, and now looks great all around. Thanks for the help.

PaulHolder,

I had the same issue with the Chrome Beta, thanks for your post, my Chrome is full retina now....the theme i was using was causing the fuzziness also.

Yup, no issues with the Chrome Beta. Try it. I've been running it since I got my Retina and its a champ.

Bohemian Coding is preparing Sketch for the retina display and after Sketch is finished they will also update Fontcase!

Don't get me wrong here, not saying it is retina ready, but at the 1920 resolution MS Word '11 isn't looking too bad. It is at the very least usable. Only certain button and UI elements such as the search bar look pixelated.

see here :

Retina Display support in ArchiCAD 16
ArchiCAD 16 is fully functional on Retina Displays. Benefits of using ArchiCAD in full Retina (HiDPI) mode include: remarkably sharp and smooth 2D element and text display.
There are some further improvements that are scheduled in a later update for ArchiCAD 16:
Extended support for trace reference
Retina (HiDPI) resolution support in 3D design environment (OpenGL, Internal Engine)
Minor fixes to icons

Did you try ArchiCAD 16 yet. In 15 the content/the vector drawings in the window is already native resolution. That means extremely sharp and detailed. But because the rMBP has to draw 4 times the pixels, I am unable to work fluidly. In fact everything is extremely sluggish.
Did you find working with AC 16 smoothly? Did they somehow enhance the performance?

No, they look blurry to me too. I'm on right now, and the MacRumors favicon is definitely pixelated.

That's something that apple and google can't optimize... The Favicon is stored on the website's server and it's usually a 16x16px ICO file so that's probably the reason, why it's unsharp... I made a 32x32px ICO for this website:

It looks better right?

In Safari it looks spectacular, but it's still blurry in Chrome. Everything else on the site is rendering just fine though. What you said makes complete sense to me, but something seems amiss here.

You'd think the Apple one would be optimized as well (like your site, it is working fine in Safari). Would this not point to an issue with Chrome and how it is rendering the icons?

well, I can answer, when my rMBP arrives.... still waiting...

Apparently Growl is working on their Retina update, at least according to this

Thanks for this list btw, much appreciated!

About VMware Fusion, what should I look out for in Retina support? Smooth fonts? Can the VM's run the native resolution? Something else? As far as I can see now the fonts in the Fusion app look normal to me, I'm running the rMBP at full native resolution.
