For the average tech-adverse consumer its hard to get excited about a product that you may not be able to actually have until weeks or months later. Also Apple hasn't done much (probably on purpose) explaining why the avg consumer should buy a watch. Personally, I think Apple understands the watch is not 100% ready for prime time and is pulling back its promotion of it until later this year when it has more data points from early adopters and can smooth out the kinks and also has a larger library of apps. I'd look for a larger consumer push this fall and wouldn't make too much of in-store interest right now.

This. Consider it a soft launch targeted at enthusiasts for now. A couple of OS updates, more apps, and a regular supply chain cadence will happen over the year, and then I bet we'll see a renewed marketing and retail push in time for the Q4 holiday season.

The first few days after the 10th people gathered around the watch table and demo units, after that people have been mostly disinterested and mainly lookin at laptops, iPads and iphones, Apple watch is not getting much loving. I Walk past the local Apple Store to and from work each day.

Be interesting how things play out after the initial pre-orders are delivered. Not sure the general public cares about wearables.

This could turn into a product like Apple TV , or could become huge , time will tell

They introduced this new product category, celebrating their "most personal product ever", and then made it totally unavailable for purchase at their retail stores. And also made the demo models totally inaccessible for customer use, unless you want some employee hawking over you running his/her mouth the entire time.

Oh, and they also celebrated introduction of their brand new laptop, but then made it totally unavailable for purchase at their retail stores.

Epic fail for Apple retail. Bring back Ron Johnson.

Non-tech enthusiasts don't even know what the watch will do or if it is useful. If the product is useful, it will sell by word of mouth. But Apple needs to get millions in hands of customers first and that is just starting. But I would call this a soft launch. Not with millions sold and the infrastructure Apple has put in place to sell the device.

In the US Apple Pay is going to be the killer app I think. But that is really a next year event as pos devices need to be upgraded this year.

Similar observations from central Ohio. Not a lot of interest in the store. I'm sure it's the lack of product on the shelf combined with "new product" uncertainty. The general public will have a much slower adoption rate than those of us on this forum. Expect mass adoption once stock is in the stores. This launch reminds me of my purchase of iPhone 1. Not a lot of in-store buzz 8 days after launch. I also remember Apple issuing a $100 credit after they lowered the price of the original iPhone. :D
Anyone else remember those days?
Btw- SS BSB 42mm. May 13 group. Still processing:confused:
Be well. Enjoy your watch if you got it.

I'm the only one in my friend circle and place of employment that has any remote interest in the Watch.

Actually got teased quite a bit due to my excitement and how I'm disappointed in the fact that I won't get mine til June, late May at best.

Yes, the Apple community is huge and very loyal; I think that we all hopped on board early. I can see the outsiders seeing our Watches during the upcoming holiday season and seeing a secondary spike come then.
