So my question is, is there anything i can do? like pay for Apple to fix it, or something? i don't have Apple care but isn't there like 1 month Apple care for every new mac?

Hope you guys can help

Edit: i'm from Denmark if that plays any role.

/Mike

You can lookup parts on eBay, the top/side part with keyboard will cost about $200 but you'll have to swap it yourself.

Its a computer yes.. but you do pay for stuff like design (and the APple logo).. if all of you didn't give a flying **** about the looks, why not just turn to PC? and make a hackintosh.

Thanks for the normal people replying, btw.

LOL..now theres a solution..just build a hack notebook..

Well the simple answer is that it'll never be as dependable as a Mac notebook..you never know what an update is going to break..

I have a Speck cover with bike and punk my hobbies if you will stickers all over it you'd never guess it's a Mac unless you see it open...

I've in essence done the same thing to my "cool" iPhone..

Some people especially the geeks in here like OSX for it's Unix core more than it's Apple Logo..If the adobe CS was on Linux I'd still be there..

Please stop assuming that everyone has your buying habits.

**edit** Keep your audience in mind, europeans tend to be more "design" and "fashion" conscious than Americans..If you want an example look at our shoes..Europeans also tend to buy for longer terms than Americans

Well, what answer do you want? Your options are either to deal with it or pay in excess of $500 to get it fixed, which no one here thinks is worth it for such a tiny scratch. So we all recommend that you just deal with it, unless you really do want to shell out that kind of cash. It's not that some of us don't sympathize (though I don't really see why it's a big deal, it's an object in the real world, it can't stay perfect for forever...).

You seem to think there's a door number 3, and there just isn't... It's not up to Apple to fix your mistakes.

Jez, guys give the OP a break. I personally use my computers like hell but I try to keep it looking as pristine as possible. I still have all my portable Macs since my vintage Powerbook 170 and they look still relatively mint (no ding, dents scratches) and I take pleasure from that. However I also see nothing wrong treating a tool as a tool if that is the philosophy of the user.

Anyway, yeah I suggest to try ebay and simply find the part that you need. It should be less expensive. Non-warranty repairs or replacement from Apple may get expensive.

I agree with this. My only point is that OP doesn't seem to want to accept that either he must replace the whole top case at moderate to significant cost to himself or live with it...

I'm sorry but… are you retarded? People here tried to give some advice and you come here with your bad and silly attitude. It's only a computer, nothing else. Yes, it is well designed and many find the design beautiful but only idiots buy an Apple computer for the looks and the Apple logo.

It is because of people like you that there are so many jokes about Mac users, or Apple costumers in general.

You are making a huge deal out of freaking dent, give me a break. This has nothing to do with not caring about your computer, it is about priorities.

Trust me i'm glad i got these replies, i am keeping the notch for now, it's been a few days now and i'm fine with it.. but it feels like people here don't really care if their expensive stuff breaks.. "as long as it works"... thats like getting a car and instantly get a huge scratch on and don't care at all (after all it works right?)

Anyways sorry if i came out like a retard or whatever, guess i was kinda pissed at my friend at that time.

Thanks for answers, please let this thread die, no reason to argue or whatever.

ps. i bought my mac for editing videos, photos and study.

I just have to point out that if something is broken, it no longer works... ;)

Many of us do strive to keep our computers in the best possible condition, we just accept that small nicks and scratches are a part of life. You should have seen the condition of my prof's MBP when he was done with it... never did I see a man so hard on his hardware!
