Plus, when i enter my numeric password it will accept it the first time and then refuse to unlock...so i have to key it in once more.

The whole thing seems to be to frustrate and browbeat hold outers like me into adopting face id.

I don't care about FaceID or passcodes, don't use either on my phone as I have nothing of value stored on it. But you can set up FaceID then just disable it. That will prevent you from getting any more reminders about setting it up. That's what I did.

I look at my iPad and it stares back at me as if it doesn’t know me.
I have to press its button just to turn it on.

Agreed. I love getting into my apps that require authentication without having to do anything ANYTHING. 1Password and my banking app are two great examples.

I think it's ridiculous that your phone keeps reminding you to set up FaceID. I don't have an iPhone X so I don't know what you're dealing with. It's YOUR choice not to use FaceID, so it shouldn't be forced upon you.

I still don't use passwords or fingerprints on my phones, and I'm not sure I'd use FaceID either to be honest. I'd definitely be annoyed if my phone tried to remind me constantly.

It's not forced on you. I set up mine and then disabled it immediately. No more reminders.
