are they reshipping all the games to be "ok"?

if so, what are they doing with the games already made? i wouldnt mind taking one. the stuff in question wouldnt offend me. i wouldnt have even noticed lol

The games already made are having a total recall and will be destroyed

Hmm unfortunate - Sony/MM should have had better quality checks to catch such things. At least they got it before it would have tainted the game on a mainstream none-gamer level.

I don't see the point why people are getting worked up with the delay - surely the game isn't mean to be confrontational, and thus the part isn't an integral part of the game. Now, if it was to happen to a game like Muslim Massacre or Wolfenstein, such a demand to change an core part of the game might justify people getting mad, but LBP isn't about that - so why do you want to offend anyone with it?

And for the people who say that it doesn't offend, or only offends a minority - let me tell you, knowing people and being on the receiving end - it does offend. Not as in BBC 'burning and fire bombing MM HQ', but in a disheartening way. Everyone gets offended about a personal subject - be it a WTC 9/11 imagery in a space invader art installation, seeing soldier's corpse of a certain nationality, symbols of past oppression etc.

My opinion is if the product in question isn't meant to be confrontational, it should not have offending elements.
Lastly Sony is an international brand which doesn't want to alienate a large part of it's customers.

That was pretty much my nevermind post. Just like having a US based studio make an FPS with a level set in Manchester (which as I said ages back would be akin to having a non-US studio make an FPS featuring a level based at VT). I am surprised at the level of ignorance some people are stooping to just because their game has been delayed an entire week.

I'm as choked as anyone, especially because MM posted on their front page that they had already made a day 0 patch that was necessary to install, the moment that the game gets onto your blu-disk drive. I think that the main reason this is such a big deal is that it is muslims. IMHO the religion is too "extreme".

Sorry if anyone here is muslim, i wasn't trying to offend. It's a generalization and I'm sure its not true for the majority of the population (as with anything else) there is always a few that ruin it for many.

EDIT; I think that the hate for the muslim community will be immense when this game comes out, especially because the main focus is to create levels. I'm sure that there will be much more offensive things than lines from the Qur'an.
This probably wasn't a good move on Sony's part.

I can't wait to see some of the user created levels resulting from this delay. I'm sure this lyric issue will pale in comparison to the backlash from angry fanboys who had to wait an extra week.

Here is a decent blog about the recent events http://www.sugardave.com/sd/sony-and-islam-bringing-infidel-free-gaming-you

This is more why I am upset at Sorny.

Next, the favoritism shown by Sony towards Islam is most frightening of all. When Resistance came out and Sony received complaints from a religious group that is NOT Islam, they responded with "Sorry you don't like it." Where is the equity? Where is Sony's responsibility to treat all its customers equally? Why is Sony bending over backwards to perform a worldwide recall of all LBP discs because of ONE complaint?

I hope their content mods are ready to work overtime, I have a feeling we are in for some interesting levels and designs com release week.

Ya, its going to be bad for them

I played to the level where the questionable music was found. At my first play, I thought it was some african music, but the voice of the singer is pretty clear, not some mumbling in the background. It is not difficult to discern the wordings (if you can speak arab). I think part of the reason why this incident was pretty serious in Sony perspective is that the phrases used (in Arab) wasn't exactly all sunshine, and this game is rated for everyone.

Firstly - the level in resistance should have been removed if the complaint was made pre-release. Although I can understand why Sony or the devs would have been reluctant - a level in a game such as resistance is not quite the same as a background track in LBP. Secondly, churches, like mosques are frequently present in games, especially FPS games, Battlefield and WW2 shooters come to mind.

In LBP's case it's referring to scriptures from the Qur'an, which have nothing to do with the game's story or setting, if you want to draw and equivalent, than the church level doesn't quite fit. Nevertheless - I can see Sony, after the previous episode, being extra cautious about these things.

Unlike a lot of people these days, I think being attuned to the sensitivities of others is a good, and if you have to challenge something, it needs to be done thoughtfully and in the right context.

To those who say, Sony or the media is overly sensitive to one or the other, they forget how often such things happen: GTA 4 - WTC 9/11, Donnie Darko delay, are just a two examples from many.

If a background soundtrack in a game like LBP in which all likelihood you wouldn't have understood anything in the first place is where you make your stand, then be it so. And if there is a backlash by fanboy who find it is OK to insult over a billion people only because they had to wait another week for their game... well I think tat is not too different from the uneducated mobs we see burning flags and ranting.

It's too bad not all religions can just learn to deal with it. I mean it just like a christian listening to emo music if you think about it...
