You heard it here first. Apple is transforming into a financial institution. Wait... now it’s official

I'm pretty excited as long as the full content of the WSJ is included. I'll be signing up today to check it out. It will be worth it for the WSJ content alone; the 300 magazines, LA Times and other news sources are just icing on the cake.

Apple Card? Dang. I just signed up for Barclays last week to get my iMac zero percent. Bet these rewards will be better too.

BTW people, the Canada thing for Apple News+ is from the Texture purchase, which was available in Canada and had agreements with many magazine publishers here.

Apple has its own credit card now. But only accepted where Apple Pay is accepted.

Only way Apple card gains support is if it offers a reward program to rival the cards most people get ... for air miles or store points.

So.... points accumulated get discount in Apple store, or similar.

That's exactly what Texture cost before Apple took over. What's so amazing?

Yeah, watching this entire thing, I was just thinking “Well this is obviously why they bought Texture”. I’ll look at the selection of magazines, but I’m guessing I’ll stick with the free digital access I get to the majority of magazines I care about through my library card.

so what's wrong with reviving the industry?

There's nothing wrong with buying a service that's been out for a decade and putting their name on it. That's great.

But only Apple has the balls to stand up on stage and pretend they just invented the product they bought and flat out say nobody's ever been able to do what this service has done for 10 years. That's just pathetic.
