So basically Apple will attract deadbeats and those who rack up high credit card balances.

Annual fees and penalties exist for a reason. To make sure you are a responsible consumer and stay on a budget.

There are other ways other than raising rates and adding penalties...

* Don't give any more cash back if you're late with a payment.
* Don't allow you to use your card anymore until you make the payment.
* Of course, your rates will rise if your credit gets worse when not making payments on this card and others.
* Send a virus to your phone when you don't make a payment :) :)

Apple has thought of this, and we will see what they do.

it would have been fun to call it applePlay. Then you can use applePay to pay for applePlay.

If this service is sleek in the living room, I like it and sign me up. I love gaming but have zero interest in mobile gaming.

I don't care what others think, I think these new updates are awesome. I hope Australia will be getting them all at some stage. That Apple Card looks impressive.

Coming from someone who spent 5 years in the credit card industry, that's absolutely not why annual fees and penalties exist. The idea that an issuing bank cares about you being a responsible consumer and staying on a budget is frankly laughable.

Wouldn’t the stock be flat then rather than down?
The Dow is down, so you would expect that Apple would follow. Wall Street already knows what is being announced and would of already factored it into the price already. The only thing that may not be known is the pricing for the TV service which hasn't been announced yet (but widely expected to be $9.99).
