Maybe not among some of the hardware only crowd, but it's generating more worldwide interest than just about any previous event because of the anticipated foray into new services. Every major and minor news site is reporting it and it's getting massive coverage for these new services, which was Apple's goal.
Last time, I was given the task of downing a shot any time Tim said either “Wow!” or “Thank you.”
I passed out before anything was even announced.
You're not disappointed if you have no expectations
The fact is I just don't care about services so this event isn't for me. I already have too many subscriptions, I don't need more.
It just seems to me like Apple is joining a saturated market (especially regarding the TV service) and I don't see what's so exciting about that. I guess we'll see how they differentiate themselves.
I just hope Apple's take on merging TV Services into one is not like spray painting a turd gold, and then trying to sell it to us.
Still....waiting to be amazed.
Apple users are approaching a billion people, so there's that
Apple News is already the biggest by far with 100 Million regular monthly users, so there's that. But, as with Apple Music, there's already a precedent of letting other platforms use an Apple Music. Will likely boil down to whether Apple is using it to make a more attractive bundle, sell more hardware, etc.
Given that it is "mac"rumors and not "bandwagon subscription service" rumors, I think the hate is in large part justified...The sheer amount of hate produced by these forums as a result of this particular Apple event will be legendary. Can't wait.

Apple really is driving home the point that they're not showing hardware.
I'm surprised that they wouldn't at least have a bunch of TVs with AppleTVs to let reporters try the new TV app, if not new Apple TV hardware.
