I hate to be a pessimist about all this, but The TOUCHBAR seemed greater an idea before the reveal. Now it seems cumbersome and awkward. Do I type on the TOUCHBAR or on the KEYBOARD, do I use the touchpad? Also not having the VOLUME UP and DOWN as a key is a big mistake. Thats something that should have not been hidden.

Let me just get this post in, before all of the "zzzzzzzz" and "we already knew that" posts - ignoring the fact that rumor sites (such as this) and annoying leaks are the reason we can't be surprised by anything Apple does anymore.

(See: iPhone 8 for reference)
If it annoys you why come here?

Reactions: CarpalMac
As an alum with Craig at NeXT and Apple, I know Steve's reaction, ``This is s***. Fix it.'' He'd shred it and pair it down to unusual key combinations only. In fact, he' want to integrate it into a backlit keyboard where the actual letters swap out with a custom control key combination.

Apple just reinvented the 2004 Thinkpad T42 with fingerprint sensor.

Touch bar feels like a 2nd trackpad but longer, shorter and with microscopic display. Flawed substitute for touch screen.

OLED bar sounded cool, but this demo is changing my mind. Does Apple think everyone looks at their keyboard while typing? How the hell is selecting emoticons for a text box easier on the OLED bar than a screen UI? Looking down to see suggested recipients in email is somehow easier than it already was?

Waiting to see how I can use the non-existing function keys in my IDE.

Wait, so if I'm on set and a client needs a graphic while i'm busy I cant have an intern go and boot up my computer to get it unless I cut off my finger and give it to them now?
I'm sure you could switch off Touch ID, like we can on the iPhone, and go back to using a passcode (or nothing).
