Won't the touch bar force touch typists to look at the keyboard? Seems kinda like a step backward. I thought it would be really cool at first but then I realize I hardly ever look at my keyboard.

Good to see I'm not the only one thinking of this.

The "Touch Bar" reminds me of this:

impressed with the touch bar...can see some great features coming to this...my issue is mag safe....if they've got rid of it lord help us all

Tell about CPUs and more importantly GPUs!!! Stop the wasting time on how great your TOUCH BAR is.
Really frustrating....and nothing new!!! Pfffff, Zzzzzz, Zzzzzzz, ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzz

OLED bar sounded cool, but this demo is changing my mind. Does Apple think everyone looks at their keyboard while typing? How the hell is selecting emoticons for a text box easier on the OLED bar than a screen UI? Looking down to see suggested recipients in email is somehow easier than it already was?

Waiting to see how I can use the non-existing function keys in my IDE.

It really is a mac built for iToy users. If you're used to an on-screen keyboard and don't know how to touch type, this machine must look great.

For the rest of us, this is the final nail in the coffin of the mac.

Not sure why everyone is harping on the touch bar. I think it will be useful. It's the first step toward a completely contextual keyboard on a notebook.
Agree. Especially excited about what developers can do with it. I believe any program can use it.

I disagree. I wasn’t excited about it, but now am.

Working from the keyboard, when typing text and moving between operations, is much quicker when your hands don’t have to leave the keyboard to find the mouse or trackpad.

I DO NOT LOOK AT MY KEYBOARD WHEN TYPING (AND I DONT KNOW WHERE MY CAPS LOCK IS EITHER) - TOUCH BAR SEEMS A BAD UX IDEA TO ME.

PREPARE FOR NECKACHE FROM ALL THE LOOKING DOWN!

It's not a replacement. It's an accompaniment. Use it if you want to. Don't if you'd rather not.
