Notice how force touch on a homescreen icon does something different than long pressing on an icon? That should answer your question.

It's harder and less long.
But it does effectively the same thing. Long press on Android is like half a second so its really not that long. Besides, having to press hard and hold to do certain actions seems to take just the same amount of time.

Well of course you wouldn't like it but maybe someone who is able to understands the concepts will enjoy it (and to avoid an unnecessary OMG - I did not say that you don't understand them :) )

I never said I didn't like it. I just think it's silly to keep changing the naming convention.

p.s. All touch is 3D. So - it's obvious at least.
