Lol... Anyone els remembers when MR sent out text messages for updates from the keynote? That was cool.... My phone going off every 34 seconds :D

Very excited. I still don't understand why they don't do a live stream, does anyone have an explanation for this?

With the exception of the enthusiasts, who is going to cover the cost of broadcasting it? Besides, the video is launched the next day on apple.com. The important stuff is detailed in the live blogs. It's a media event, not reality show.

In before...

"shut up and take my money"

"so much for doubling down on secrecy"

"Steve never would have allowed this."

"but is Safari snappier?"

"wtf, it's the same as before but taller... Apple is doomed" ;) :apple:

There's no technical limitation on why they don't. Apple Inc. can easily afford the bandwidth and servers.

Simply put, they don't want to. It's a private event for a hand-selected group of tech media.

It's not a football match.

Does the shutdown of the Apple online store indicate that pre-orders will take place today and not Friday?
Nope.

Nothing can be surmised from the online store closure. They close it every time they have a live product announcement, regardless of whether or not that product will be immediately available for sale or if a pre-order scenario is imposed.

It's been like this for years.

I was thinking the same thing. I assume they "shutdown" the apple online store before each event regardless of availability of new products?

Does anyone have information based on history?

Anybody got MacMall (or some other) ready in another browser tab in case the iPod Classic is discontinued?

My daughter wants a new iPod touch. The 4th gen will be fine for her. I have a 32GB one in my bestbuy.com cart right now. Waiting for the price of it to drop!
