With the exception of the enthusiasts, who is going to cover the cost of broadcasting it? Besides, the video is launched the next day on apple.com. The important stuff is detailed in the live blogs. It's a media event, not reality show.

omg lol apple has 100 billion in the bank.

with p2p streaming like those live sports websites do it would be easy.

I was thinking the same thing. I assume they "shutdown" the apple online store before each event regardless of availability of new products?

Does anyone have information based on history?

To my knowledge they do this anytime to update their product line up. So with it looking like they will have ...iTunes update,iPod update,iPod nano update...iPhone.. All text, graphics, info on these products need to be put on their site.
But it could also mean Pre-orders are today....I just hope they don't start Pre-orders today.

Not the same feeling...

In October, 2001 I was walking in NY with a friend, when we stopped by a store to buy the first iPod. I was so impressed with the idea of have all my songs in my pocket that I could not resist and bought both, iPod and MacBook Pro (yes, iPod was only for macs at the beggining)

Since then, my life changed completely. I was engaged in all Apple announcements to see the keynotes magically presented by Steve Jobs.
Every launch an amazing and beautiful product and I was there at the line buying some, supporting Apple in my way.

However today is one of that days and I do have the excitement feeling to go to the store tomorrow and change my iPhone 4S for the new iPhone 5, I have to share that I do not have the same feeling, and that is because Steve is not there. He always was the Apple for me and I believe for many other macmaniacs. I do support Apple Team and I have a strong confidence on Sir Jony Ive, one of the greatest designer ever.

I believe Steve would never send out an invitation with that "5" on the shadow, stating clearly the iPhone-5 launch minimizing all the usually buzz.

I am afraid Apple reached its top and it is lacking that usually magic, got the wrong direction and will turn into a bored company. Hope not, there is still time... Go Apple !

Why not live? Help me if my memory is incorrect, but wasn't the live one the one where Steve couldn't get a signal on the phone because of all the bloggers hogging up the wifi and data? Very embarrasing and something he would certainly have insisted on editing out. Probably why there is no live anymore.

Isn't there normally a last minute leak of part numbers and prices from a Mr X (or similar) - has Tim Cook doubled down on him?

I hope they do. The sooner the better.

Does the shutdown of the Apple online store indicate that pre-orders will take place today and not Friday?

Nope. It means nothing other than they don't want folks placing orders for the old stuff and driving them nuts trying to cancel etc

And for those that aren't blog heads it lets them know something could be happening

In before...

"shut up and take my money"

"so much for doubling down on secrecy"

"Steve never would have allowed this."

"but is Safari snappier?"

"wtf, it's the same as before but taller... Apple is doomed" ;) :apple:

You were two late for at least two of these...but nice try, anyways...

im more excited for this event than any other Apple event.

got a feeling this is going to be a huge one.

Too many people trying to watch it at once and too much of a strain in the servers.

They did it a few years ago where only people with Apple devices could watch it but theirs too many apple devices out there now.

But they're currently streaming iTunes Festival concerts daily. If that works, shouldn't this?

I found a bright shiny penny face up on the sidewalk.

Does that mean they will announce all my iTunes wish list (software and store), the retina iMac, the 50 inch retina cinema display with hdmi etc. and I'll win the lotto so I can buy it all. If only.

Not really exciting at all this time around.

When Tim pulls out his anorectic Iphone T everyone will be like "thanks Tim, but we saw it a month ago already".

Then he whips out the ipad mini and everyone is like "hey Tim, do you have any REAL news for us today?"

Oh one last thing Tim says: the iphone T has PANORAMAZ!!!! And the audience grasps for breath and a oooooooh aaaaaaah is heard around the globe.

Seriously get rid of this idiot sculley... eh sorry Cook.
