Ok he's technically wrong because the Lytro camera allowed you to change the depth of field after the fact, but it was expensive and low resolution and didn't sell well. Putting this in the hands of anyone is fantastic.

Lytro actually used an entirely different technology to capture images but yes you're right that existed. This has existed on Samsung devices since the S8, they had Live Focus and could actively change the bokeh at will post-capture since it's a post-processing effect applied to the image on both Samsung and Apple devices. It's not the same as the natural bokeh that can be done with these apertures.

So no distinguishing features between the 5.8 and the Max other than size and battery life?

That’s interesting. Nice.

I love Apple and technology, but I've realized that iPhone keynotes are no longer "must watch live" events. It's gotten to the point of such incremental updates (especially the camera) that I just don't care because it's not relevant to me. I know other people enjoy it, but I would be just as happy if I read the summary later today.

It's bound to happen. Apple can't just keep coming out with new tech that is amazing every year. I don't care if Steve was still at the helm or not but eventually things start to level out and it happens with all companies or whatever. No band can keep coming out with hit albums year after year or movie director to direct great movies for 20 years+. The 2000's were an amazing time for Apple for tech but things naturally started leveling out.

I wonder if they get a grant from the government for including an environmental portion to a product keynote.

Everyone’s all jaded over the keynote and I’m here weeping with joy because I finally get stereo audio recording capability. I may not need to carry Android anymore at least not for that. And I can keep my two phone numbers with my dual sims.

Hahaha, the Debbie Downers make me laugh :D
