Look I am a little disappointed that there is no redesign. But someone coming from Android (me) who hasn't ever owned an iPhone will be more than happy with this, which will probably make up most of the people buying it since iPhone 4 users are still in contract.

Seriously who wants to have to talk into their phone repeatedly feeling silly? It's one of the reasons I have never ever used the voice commands in any of my cars that have the feature.

In the tech world, reaching a mark like 10% of your base having updated to the newest version is actually a mark they pay attention to. Because it shows how fast folks are accepting the new version. It is something that it took so much longer for folks to move up with Windows. Mind you he doesn't go into why that happened. it might be stability of the previous version, might be lack of desired new features. But this is Apple not Microsoft so the details of course would be lacking.

That said, it is a rather odd thing to have mentioned in an event that was set up to be iOS/mobile device focused. They really couldn't have left Lion for the earnings call? Then again STeve did the same sort of thing so it's not a total surprise

Take a look at Amazon's stock for example. When they announced the Kindle Fire it was slightly overhyped but in reality its going to be one of the most practical tablets on the market (look at it as the poor mans iPad). Its in a free fall atm, and probably will continue to do that till launch when we see if billions of dollars in RD got pissed away.

It's not just this one feature, it's the dual core processor, the 8MP camera and a few other things.

I knew, as unique as the iPhone 4's design and as much as they were bragging about it last year it had to go another round as their premium device. But the real question is why the heck did they wait this long...

And they will most likely not be an iPhone 5 this year and specially not this keynote they already called the S the best iPhone yet.

I know it is said every year no matter what updates but in my mind this was the worst event I've ever seen for the iPods & iPhones.

No capacity updates. No hardware changes for any of the iPods. Processor/Camera updates for the iPhone.

From a hardware stand point nothing but the iPhone has changed and even little there. A5 was already in the iPad so its nothing new.

I won't be surprised when the store comes back up that the iPod Classic isn't even on the site nor the iPod Shuffle.

I think the company is sacrificing innovation for money. No capacity updates so they think they can sell iCloud garbage, Essentially no iPod updates to attempt to get people on the iPhone.

Seems like all the development went into iOS5 this year.

To be fair, they DID redesign the inside of the phone. I would have preferred a bigger screen, but I'll deal with what I've currently got.
