This is just the precursor for the upcoming switch to ARM! Apple is planting the seeds, even without substantiating their claims. A12X is faster than i7. I want to see the tests in which Apple's A12X outperforms the i7!

Would have been spinner and a 2-core, probably. $799 sounds fair to me considering the upgrades.

2-core? In the world of 4 core i3s? Nah. They wouldn't drop to the Pentium stuff. Lets be honest though, 128GB storage, 8 GB of Ram and an i3 for $800 is a steep price. For all but very, very light use a 128GB boot drive is not really enough anymore, plus the cost of the actual space (as opposed to the connections) is trivial these days. Apple is seriously skimping here. Similarly, 8GB of RAM fills up very fast. DDR4 prices aren't low though, so that's less of a skimp and I suspect more folks are OK at 8GB of RAM than are OK at 128GB of storage on a boot drive. I'm guessing 256/16 is going to be 1100-1200. That's a lot for just a minimally functional headless machine.
