I was watching the business news on the BBC this morning and even THEY said investors are nervous about Apple, they had an expert on who stated they feel Apple really needs to open up a LOT more AND it IS playing catch up a lot now.

That's the BBC News, not any American stuff, but an incredibly well respected news channel.

So has Apple opened up their platforms a lot more in today's conference? I haven't seen it all.

Tea leaves pointed to a Fall release with some context today. Where will a Fall release be touted but here? I didn't expect a new MBP today but they are so overdue a release cycle it's daunting..
There were NO tea leaves that Apple would hint at hardware today. Over a week ago Rene Ritchie said don't expect any hardware at WWDC. Mark Gurman said the same thing. If that bothers people so much then rather than whine and moan here they should put their money where their mouth is and go Windows or Android. Don't just talk tough. Walk the talk.

Yes, they have opened up Siri, Apple Maps, and iMessage to developers.

I've been saying for years Cook is incredibly ill-suited as CEO

Tim's a great CEO. In fact, titles aside, he's effectively been in that role since about, oh, 2004. Take it from someone who worked for him for over a decade.

If Apple were any other company, and Steve were any other person, his title would have been "Chief Creative Officer," or something similar.

Apple is now Microsoft, or even Google. Nobody cares about quality anymore. Apple didn't care about making developers lives easier. They just made it worse for them since now they have to worry about even more stuff.
