Tim's a great CEO. In fact, titles aside, he's effectively been in that role since about, oh, 2004. Take it from someone who worked for him for over a decade.

If Apple were any other company, and Steve were any other person, his title would have been "Chief Creative Officer," or something similar.

That's the problem they have no creative vision - no drive. They're just playing catch up. I'm a hard core mac user, but when you have brand loyalists who are saddened by the lack of innovation and drive, which is a key component of the brand, then it starts making it hard to continue your love affair with them. They built their recent brand on impressing consumers, but everything in the last few years has been industry standard wrapped up in a glittery bow. Sure you can impress with a glittery bow for a few seconds, but where's the substance behind it?

For all the 9 year old developers in the audience, right?

I don't see how making coding fun, is a bad thing.

They sure did gear the event to the younger side of the coding world, But that's fine IMO. Many people are commenting on how much better the keynote is when Craig comes out, and while he is no longer a kid, I think Apple can do to see more youthful energy injected into the brand, but maybe that's just me.

My only expectations going into this WWDC:
  • iOS improvements to make better use of the 12.9 iPad Pro (including finer icon grid on the homescreen, support for pointing devices, expanded support for USB peripherals, etc.)
  • The actual announcements would be disappointing
So Apple came through with 50% of my expectations.

LOL I agree... what the heck we're some of you expecting? My goodness... Apple just opened up just about every aspect of all the OS's to developers. That's huge on it's own!

Personally... I see a great foundation coming for all new hardware in the fall... and BTW... I too was hoping for new Macs, but also knew that usually does not happen at WWDC.... but was still hoping they'd break tradition and bring them anyway.

All good stuff from what I saw.

I think it's because many users on here are 12 year old girls with a mental handicap of a 4 year old. The stupidity in 90% of the comments i read on here blew my mind.

And yeah massive disappointment just like rumours suggested... but the worst part is how they talk about the new features... They aren't that amazing, its old, already done by others, or simply useless things most of us will never use.

How long must I wait before I can finally replace my 2010 macbook pro with something thats NEW? NEW!!

Apple's annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) kicks off today in San Francisco with the traditional keynote being held for the first time at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, the same location Apple used for its "Hey Siri" media event last September.

The keynote begins at 10:00 AM Pacific Time / 1:00 PM Eastern Time, and we're expecting to see a number of announcements focused primarily on software updates including iOS 10 and OS X 10.12, as well as new versions of watchOS and tvOS. We may also see some updates to Apple's services such as Apple Pay, iCloud, and perhaps iMessage, but major hardware announcements are not expected.

Apple is providing a live video stream on its website and via Apple TV.

In addition to Apple's video stream, we will be updating this article with live blog coverage and issuing Twitter updates through our @MacRumorsLive account as the keynote unfolds. Highlights from the event and separate news stories regarding today's announcements will go out through our @MacRumors account.

People who are moaning need to realise that WWDC is not for the average consumer but developers, there was never a guarantee that we would get any hardware.

The usual Apple Apologist remark I see...

And what about the Apple hardware Apple has announced at all it's previous WWDC events then... Oh but I guess you'll tell me that's different, that was a different Apple, the new Apple you have insider knowledge off now thinks WWDC should never be about new hardware.....

usually does not happen? The Mac Pro, the Unibody MBP, The Retina MBP, the MacbookAir were all revealed at WWDC.

When my iMac dies in probably 2-4 years I think I might be doing what I never wanted and going back to Windows. I don't believe Microsoft can offer me things I want any more than Apple can (if this is any indication) but at least they can do it cheaper and I can build it myself.

macOS' features almost all seem dependent on an iPhone or Apple Watch which I don't really care for and if this is the direction iOS is going (childish and bloated) than its only a matter of time before macs get the same treatment.

I love you Apple, I really do, but you need to stop pushing away your professional audience.

Two years is a long time to be on standby waiting for a computer to give up the ghost. Have fun with that!
