WOuld there be like a BTO option for a greater card say an 8800 or something?
No way @ 8800. Something slower, maybe. I doubt it though - seems like it would've been mentioned. I'm really hoping however. This is the one thing leaving a sour taste in my mouth...

"Introduced multitouch on iPhone, what about for the Mac?"

Steve: "Makes sense for the iPhone, not sure it makes sense in the Mac. Classify that as a research project."
Exactly. I've been saying this since the beginning. It would be f*cking stupid to put Multitouch on a desktop. Not one reason to do so.

omg you guys are hard to please. Remember you are sect of the whole apple community. I think iMac is gonna do good on sales. MP refresh!?! has'nt it been a year of its release, why would they update something thats to me pretty good system thats open to updates on users end.

Cue Jobs saying that multitouch is the future of the Mac in 4 month's time.

So this means, if you bought your Mac, or MBP last week, and it says it wont be shipped until tomorrow, it will come with iLife... (Said this because lots of people were worried about this, and if other updates announced today will be shipped with there new mac)

Nice, I'm guessing that includes orders on the MBP that were made two weeks ago that haven't shipped?

Since its only Q&A why dont they bring the store back up already.

On a side note how does the ATI X2600 compare to the X1600?

I'm going to permanently leave this on my clipboard for every time some nut job suggests a multi-touch iMac.

Would be real bad now with your mac already being sold i guess

I wanted this new iMac to be able to run the upcoming Crisys at a very reasonable framrate and quality, hope it will cut it !

11:30AM: Last question: "There has been a suggestion that Apple appeals to smaller elite than mass customer base. Is it your goal to overtake PC in marketshare?"

Steve: "Goal is to make the best PC in the world, and make something we can recommend to family in friends. There is some stuff in our industry we wouldn't be proud to ship. We can't ship junk. Thresholds we just can't cross. But we want to make the best personal computers in the industry. Our products are usually not premium priced. Price our competitors' computers, and add in all the extras, we're competitive. We don't offer stripped down products. We compare favorably. Thank you very much for coming today."

That's it!

Was refreshing engadget, and then it showed steve's reply to the multi touch question, I refreshed again, and his quote wasnt there....

Steve: "Makes sense for the iPhone, not sure it makes sense in the Mac. Classify that as a research project."

In other words, we are already working on it. Give us another year or two.

The iMacs were OK. The stonewash brigade, however, was all the way lame.

I'm extremely disappointed. My 23" HD Aluminum Display is three years old, and to date is the least updated product from Apple. For all the professionals who use Mac Pro's/Power Mac's and would like/need an update (I personally know photographers who would love an IR sensor for the Apple remote to use for showing clients work, and I personally would like a built in iSight), I feel as though Apple's constant reminder of their Pro line is just a lot of hot water. The Mac Pro line is given the least amount of attention, and for those who say it's a small market, who cares, well, that would be incorrect as there are a LOT of people in that market who care. :(

I can see where you guys are coming from with the lack of update for the Pro line. But how I take it is that Steve is trying to bring the rest of the product line up to their (the Pro) level.

Steve was quoted by Engadget as saying: "...Two elements we've used in a lot of pro products: aluminum and glass. Phenomenal materials. Take aluminum, we use this in our pro products..."

While I agree that the Displays need to be updated to include iSight and everything else on the current displays.

Maybe he's not updating the Mac Pros (or at least delaying it longer) since the Professionals using the Pro Line can upgrade the computers themselves. It's not like an iMac with no chance to upgrade the video cards or HDD's.

Again I'm not saying that they shouldn't have to upgrade the Pro Line, I do agree they NEED to upgrade the displays. But that's just my reasoning for why they haven't upgraded the Mac Pro line for so long.
