You think the claim that the new connector will work with existing Lightning cables applies to non-standard non-certifiable half-compatible cables?

I think the claim that the new connector will work with existing Lightning cables applies to existing Lighting cables.

Could be a nice accessory when traveling extra light. I'd accept the reversibility compromise then. (The leather is a deal-breaker though.)

The male Lightning Port is superior to USB-C's female port. It's unfortunate that Apple wasn't able to push for Lightning as the new USB standard port.

I like the cord design but as it is not mfi and has no reversible connector means I would never buy it. Personally I don't care if it has micro usb or not I'd just like a more robust and attractive cable.

sorry, they lost credibility when they included a picture of a FitBit Charge HR on their website. This device does not accept MicroUSB or Lightning charging cable. Will this new cable work with my FitBit??

The non-reversibility and non-MFi are kinda deal breakers. I just use one of these cables that I found at Target when I need both connectors. It works pretty good. Also what are the odds that this will ever even be a real product? 50/50 at best?

and suddenly Kickstarter has just suspended this campaign:

Hello,

This is a message from Kickstarter’s Integrity team. We’re writing to notify you that the LMcable | The world's first IOS & Android Common Connector, project has been suspended, and your $24.00 AUD pledge has been canceled. A review of the project uncovered evidence that it broke Kickstarter's rules. We may suspend projects when they demonstrate one or more of the following:

  • Offering purchased items and claiming to have made them yourself
  • Presenting someone else’s work as your own
  • Misrepresenting or failing to disclose relevant facts about the project or its creator

Accordingly, all funding has been stopped and backers will not be charged for their pledges. No further action is required on your part.

We take the integrity of the Kickstarter system very seriously. We only suspend projects when we find strong evidence that they are misrepresenting themselves or otherwise violating the letter or spirit of Kickstarter's rules. As a policy, we do not offer comment on project suspensions beyond what is stated in this message.
Regards,
Kickstarter Integrity

Reading the comments on their Kickstarter, they're being accused of stealing by some other person.
Ok just did the same. Not sure if i believe the Kimteer guy. No other posts on his facebook and the english is a mess. Im gonna assume Kickstarter had more evidence than this ONE guy. Wish backers were given a better explanation than this. Probably for the best. I backed it just to give it a shot but if it was never MFi certified then im pretty sure iOS would have rejected it now or at some point later. Doubt Apple would be a fan of people redesigning Lightning cables like that.

They have been shut down because they have been copying and infringed on PlusUs LifeStar cable range, look at the names and the designs: www.plusus.com.au

One Aussie stealing from another Aussie!!

Ok granted they may have similar if not identical sleeving, the LifeStar cable does not have the supposed USB/Lightning combo connector. I don't think sleeving is enough to justify and infringing design. Unless they ALSO stole the connector from eslewhere. That OR they lied about the viability of such a connector.

Edit: An update on their Facebook somewhat attempts to explain the cancellation. English is a bit rough but it SEEMS that their initial designs were leaked and copied by a Chinese company. This seems to suggest that a knock off was being sold and since they matched what what the Kickstarter was offering Kickstarter just pulled the plug based on evidence that the campaign was just selling an existing product. They claim Kickstarter gave them zero notice so the campaign was just killed with no way to explain themselves. I guess the cable will instead go on sale on an online store created by them. I might still get one to test it out.

No they cannot sell anything. They copied the stitched cables which are patented. They stole the design as well as the names.
