Logitech dropped support on the excellent harmony remote control. Left a bitter taste as they lied about mac support ongoing then just dropped it.

"Click-click-click ... Why is my mouse not working? Oh right, my credit card is maxed out and the subscription won't renew! "

There's a sucker born every minute.

I have used these for 20 years and I cannot find a more comfortable mouse. The first one became faulty after about 14 years of continual use. I purchased another for £9 which is what sits on my desk today. A subscription mouse sounds horrendous.

Probably one of the greatest mice ever made. I had MANY of these back in the golden days of Windows XP.

No thanks, I have more than 1 mouse in my house from more than 1 brand (Logitech included) that are fully functional after 20+ years.

Yeah. I think this confirms it. These Tech CEOs are completely delusional. Literally no one wants a subscription for their MOUSE! And what happens if you stop paying the subscription? Does the mouse brick itself?

I genuinely don't understand how the company that made my favorite mouse that I'm using right this second (The MX Master 3S for Mac) can be so unbelievably stupid. Then again, the CEO doesn't make the products...I'm looking forward to the MX Master 4 whenever they release it but I'm skipping if they make it a subscription
Clearly neither do this 'innovation team' if the best they can do is keep charging people for the same product.

Because as we all know seat heating in a car also doesn’t work for years without a subscription.

This interview makes me never want to buy Logitech again.

I'm excited for more of this! Just imagine when we only get to take 10 photos/mo on our phones for free, and you can pay $9.99/mo for 1000 photos and just $19.99/mo for an unlimited plan! I also really hate getting to use my kitchen appliances for free, I need a subscription for my stove and fridge too
You are joking, but our washing machine does indeed already offer "upgrades" to unlock certain washing programs...

When I need a mouse, invariably all the magic mice are dead or have connection problems & can never be used, so I just grab this ancient MS mouse... I bought it in like 1999 and it looks like they're still selling it 25 years later. Like a couple other truly great things from that time, it still just really... whips the llama's ass...

They're still selling it?! This was my favorite mouse of all time. Mine started doing the thing where you can't drag without it clicking a billion times. :( Might have to pick up another one if they're still around...

Still using a MacAlly keyboard from my B&W G3 tower with MS mouse. It will basically live the entire hardware lifetime of the USB A port.

I would love to pay a subscription for a mouse and a subscription for a keyboard and a subscription for a monitor and a subscription for my desk and a subscription for my chair…and software
Hmmmm. It sounds a lot like renting
Don’t forget the part were you need to subscribe to be able to subscribe for these subscriptions. SFHAAS is getting out of hand. Software for hardware as a service.. who even invented that ****.

I already have to rent my software … I’m not going to rent my hardware.

I think I’ll just stop using computers if I had to pay a subscription to use my mouse. Or dig out my old windows xp machine and use that again.

Tell me this is a joke, right? A washing machine that comes with limited wash options and to unlock ALL options you have to pay a monthly subscription!!!!, what the heck is wrong with companies. Are they all out to screw us over so they can get as much money as they can?

Is this is what is going to happen with the new generation of cars? If you want 'speed' option or 'cruise' option you will have to pay a monthly subscription whereas at the moment all you have to do is press a button on the dashboard to set which driving mode you want. Basically cars will be fitted with all sorts of gadgets and options which will have many set as default when you buy the car but to obtain the rest you must pay a monthly subscription. It is ludicrous. ludicrous that is is what company CEO 's are thinking like to maximize profits.

How long will it be before Apple introduces a monthly subscription for battery charging, normal charging as standard but if you want to fast charge you have to unlock the option in settings by paying for a monthly subscription.

Company CEO's have gone money crazy.

Ridiculous to have subscription pricing for a mouse. Hope such things never happen.

I wish it was, but it's real. To be fair though, it's "only" advanced options that I will never use anyway, but yeah, it's scary.

Edit: Oh and by the way, to make matters worse, this is not a cheap washing machine, it's rather one of the higher end models of this particular manufacturer (which itself is on the higher end already).

Conspiracy theory:

Companies like Logitech use a soft plastic with a particularly wooly micro texture so that they polish away quicker to a shine under your fingers.

I bought a Logitech keyboard and an Apple one at the same time about 5 years back and the Logitech one has an absolutely mirror finish on the keys and spacebar and the Apple one is still relatively matte, both used daily.
