Apple today started selling a new version of the Logitech Crayon with a USB-C port for charging. The original model with a Lightning connector remains available.

Priced at $69.95 in the U.S., the Logitech Crayon is a lower-cost alternative to the Apple Pencil. The drawing tool features a slim aluminum body and an Apple Pencil-like tip, with the same latency, tilt, and palm rejection that you get with the Apple Pencil. Unlike the Apple Pencil, however, the Crayon lacks pressure sensitivity.

The new Logitech Crayon is compatible with all iPad Pro, iPad Air, iPad mini, and iPad models with a USB-C port, including the new 10th-generation iPad.

Gosh that looks remarkably like my old Paper (app) Pencil (hardware from paper -pre Apple Pencil) loved it until it became unsupported. Writhing and sketching was great, curious…

I have an old one of these and I used to switch between it and the Apple Pencil 1 frequently. Other than the somewhat chunkier feel in the hand there’s hardly a difference if all you’re doing is taking notes imo.

More important: crayon is compatible to both apple pencil 1 & 2. I have iPad 8 and Air4, I just need to buy one crayon. It even doesn’t require pairing. Just pick up and draw on an iPad, so simple

but no pressure sensing like the Apple version?

Don't laugh at the Logitech Crayon. It is a great product for what it does. It is universally compatible with any iPad that uses either generation of Pencil, and it is considerably less expensive than an Apple Pencil. It is limited in that it does not detect differences in pressure when using, so I would think it is not very useful for artists. But I am an Engineer, not an artist. I take notes with it, and mark up and annotate PDF plans within Notability with it. I have virtually worn one out after 3.5 years, and I will buy another soon. I have used it with with my iPad Mini 5 since early 2019, and will buy another one to use with an iPad Air that I plan to purchase soon.
