Just an update.

Finally configured SteerMouse and the G500 works beautifully under ML. If anyone needs the preferences for my settings, let me know.

I have set the poling rate to 333 under Windows and saved it to the onboard memory.

Probably one of the best/most accurate mice I've ever used. The grip texture and the ugly colors on the top I could live without, but a small price to pay for a great laser mouse.

Why the hell can't Logitech just release proper drivers???

Let me revive this topic since i consider buying the G500.

they have a "gaming software for mac" on their downloads. http://www.logitech.com/en-us/support/gaming-mouse-g500?section=downloads&bit=&osid=32

aren't these the drivers?

No. The G500 is a Windows only mouse.

You must use SteerMouse (Or other Mac software) to get the full functionality.

It's a great mouse, you just need to set it up once and go.

Actually hmm...it seems that Logitech finally released a damn driver for their gaming mouse for the Mac? haha

Going to give this a try. SteerMouse has been wonderful though.

FYI, it works.

However, I liked the functionality of steermouse. I guess I'll keep the logitech driver, I don't like using 3rd party software.

Any experts want to chime in on the best DPI settings for this type of mouse with the Logitech software? I have a 30" Apple Cinema Display.

It's personal preference, as the DPI setting does pretty much the same as the 'cursor speed' setting in the System Preferences.
When I used the Logitech G5, I just put it on the lowest setting and the was fine for me. Every time you've restarted the Mac, you had to reset the setting (it didn't have the fancy App of the G500) or the cursor would be all over the screen with the slightest bump, that's why I went with the Magic Mouse.

Hey, how is it working so far? I'm guessing these drivers are very recent. I'd like to buy one if it works 100% perfectly. (Right now I have a Razer mouse that works 85% "perfectly", so no use in switching if these Logitech drivers aren't perfect.)

Can you remove mouse accel, and do the buttons programmed to keystrokes work without ML spazzing out (key ghosting or whatever it's called)? Can the polling rate go as high as they claim (500hz or above)?

Thanks man.

It's working fine with the new (actual) drivers for OS X from Logitech. Yeah you can change the polling rate up to 1000. I have it at 500 right now and customized it a bit and it's fine. By default it's not so good so you have to customize it to fit your need.

I'm not a gamer, I use it primarily for productivity apps like Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and web coding. I switch between this and a Wacom Intuos 5.

Shame I bought SteerMouse, but the developer deserves the money.
