The G7 is newer and i think is better but i prefer the look of the MX1000 better.

I prefer the button placement and the slick feet on the G5/G7 much better. Too bad the G7 isn't available on that same $40 deal at CompUSA. I just ordered a G5 corded mouse I have an MX518 now but like the feel of the G5 better); it was oly $46 at Amazon.

I'm using both - the MX 1000 is fantastic, it truely is BUT as it needs it's docking station to act as a receiver it was hopeless for my Macbook so it's living on my iMac G5.

I'm using the BT MM for the Macbook - but I find the MX more comfortable.

How does the middle click of the MX1000 compare to the MX518 or the MX700?
I've read bad reports on this about the G5/G7 (too hard to press).

The G5/G7 lack a "forward" button. The G7 is faster than the MX1000.

The G5/G7 are PC mice. I've read of someone having problems with the G7 on their Mac. I have no details. For someone else with a MBP, it worked prefectly.

Having got on with my wired MM really well I'll be definitely getting a BT MM for my MacBook

I hope this is OK. I just ordered 2 G5 mice from Amazon. I had an MX518 and loved it but the G5 felt better in my hand and I wanted the side scrolling.

Please tell us how it goes with the middle click here when you get them. And if the side scrolling capability gets in the way of clicking, too.

Thanks

I'll do that. Amazon shows that they are being packaged for shipment, so they should be here in a few days.

I got the G5 for both home (Mac) and work (XP) and I love it. I use USBOverdrive on the Mac and it works great; I have the left/right scroll set to the desktop magnify function and it is very smooth and nice. I use the G5 drivers at work on XP and don't like them nearly as much; I may try loading the XP version of USBOverdrive if there is such a thing. The center click is stiff, but it works fine on Mac. On XP it is a real problem, but that is probably due to the driver. Overall I am very satisfied with my purchase.

Well, I've just gotten my MacBook Pro and a wireless Mighty Mouse, coming from using an MX1000 with my old computer. I'd have to say, it was a great mouse, very comfortable, and I liked the internet back/forward buttons on it. However what I really like on the mighty mouse is 360 degreee multi-speed scroll wheel, and being able to set the side buttons. Plus it's really cool looking >_>

I really can't decide which one to recommend. I guess the Mighty Mouse... no receiver (bluetooth), and a little less expensive.

Unfortunately, even though I think the Apple mice look nice, I can't stand the flat design (hurts my hand) or the placement of the scroll button (hurts my finger). But I love my G5.

For all of you who use Logitech mice, where do you get a driver which will enable all the extra buttons? I have a MX900, and the only thing which works on it is the scroll wheel and right/left buttons...

there are a few drivers that you can use .. steermouse or usb overdrive to name a couple. there are more out there .. i personally am using steermouse with my bluetooth mx1000 .. all buttons except for the buttons above and below the scroll wheel are mapable.

as an aside, i'm soooooooooooooooo curious about this mouse :)
not BT, nothing special .. other than the shape of it .. might be a pain to use, but .. man ... will it give people the 'wow' factor when you set that next to your mac :D

When I was using a Logitech MX700 with my Mac I used Logitech's keyboard/mouse driver (I forgot what it was called). For some reason it wasn't listed under mice, but only under keyboard/mouse combos (but it worked fine). I think though that USB Overdrive is simpler and lighter on resources.

In case anyone is interested, I have an MX1000 on eBay, that goes off tomorrow. Currently no bids, starting at $29.99. :)

Any reason to pass up $39.00 Logitech MX 1000 for a $69.00 Mighty Mouse?

Dude, go with the logitech. That is very, very cheap for that MX1000. I visited Best Buy the other day and they were double that  Don't pass up an awesome deal hit up the Logitech.

Also an MX1000 user, works great. they released the universal version of their software a few months ago, and I use it to program my buttons.

Sold seperately and compatible??

I just spend a seeming endless time searching for a simple information:

1. Can I buy the BLUETOOTH MX1000 seperately or only in a bundle with either the MX5000 Desktop-set or the DiNovo Desktop-set?

I have only seen the older mx900 sold seperately but I would like to buy the MX1000 Bluetooth as I think the other desktop set keyboards dont work with my Macbook. And I dont want to use a dongle and use the built-in bluetooth instead (so no wireless).

2. Is the MX1000 BLUETOOTH fully competible with my MacBook? Does the bluetooth driver work as well as on a windows machine?

Many thanks for your help!!!

From what I can gather, the only way to get a bluetooth MX1000 mouse is with the MX5000 bundle.

I have a mac mini here and a PC and need to share one keyboard and mouse. I have 2 KVM's but they don't seem to be working very well and I want to cut down on the wires so I was planning on just using the bluetooth in the mini and getting a USB bluetooth dongle for the PC. Then I could use the mouse with either.

I just don't want the logitech keyboard in that bundle.
