So I have a MP 2019 right now with a single 6900xt using a cable that goes from display port + usb a to my studio display. It works well enough (occasionaly artifacts on cold start requiring a usbc plug cycling). Long term this will mostly be a Windows gaming box- I have Windows 11 installed. I was wondering if anyone has tried using (or has opinions) an ASUS ThunderboltEX 4 + nvidia 5000 series for thunderbolt to the studio display? I was thinking that setup for Windows plus a MPX variant card for occasional macOS time. Maybe feeding both into the Sabrent thunderbolt 4 KVM.

I wouldn't waste money on anything except a KVM switch with dual display ports to swap between the 5090 (Windows) and 6900XT (macOS). I personally use the Belkin VR cables for dual Studio Displays and they work perfectly fine with no glitches and gives me all features for the studio displays (except the rear ports run at USB2.0 but I don't care).

You can also get a Windows based brightness controller to control the brightness on the Studio Display in Windows.

There's a good thread with someone running 5090 (OEM) under Windows.

I have also contimplated getting the 5090 for the Mac Pro and turning this into a Windows box eventually since it runs bad on macOS Tahoe (might revert back to Sequoia).

Good points there- do you use a display port kvm or the sabrent one with your Studio Displays?

I haven't used KVM switches in ages, but I assume getting a decent brand is worth a shot off Amazon and if it doesn't work, just return and get another one since Amazon has a good return policy. Just make sure the KVM switch supports USB 2.0+ + 5k Displays at 60hz. You have to run your Apple Keyboard (You can probably get away with using it on Bluetooth if you install the right drivers from Bootcamp, but you may lose connection sometimes) + whatever mouse you use via USB so the KVM switches to them instantly as needed in different OS.

You can mount the KVM switch below your desk and hide it for a simple button press when needed.
