I can't imagine how this app would work.... ... maybe your peepee stick has a gyroscope & accelerator in it and you use the iPad via an app for directional control and forward and back for power control...

... should have stopped at confused...I think i imagined too much :( ..... back to work...

Wow so not great image in my head as I read that, thanks!

This is my 3rd iPad and I still use it every day. Just started reading a book on the New iPad yesterday so my usage should go up even more now.

I've owned an iPad since the 2 came out and use it constantly. I'm a grad student and use my iPad every day to record lectures and to annotate my professors' power point lecture notes. I also keep all my textbooks on the iPad so that I don't have to lug a bunch of heavy books around all day. Since I do so much reading on my iPad, I recently upgraded to the new iPad and find myself using it even more than my iPad 2. Reading is such a pleasure on the new screen. My poor MacBook pro almost never gets used unless I need to do serious word processing (something the iPad is still not great at) or to use Matlab.

my daily usage has increased substantially

Since I discovered Newsstand and Comixology.

Whatever iPad I purchase next, I will get a 64gb (or hopefully larger) storage size. I look forward to when I will be able to write on this with ease (using the app versions of software still currently desktop only) and to be fully able to take online classes through the iPad (Blackboard app is still not there). I keep going back and forth between still needing a computer and wanting to be iPad only, at this point, I still need both.

I'm also using the iPad to assist with other hobbies/creative pursuits. I'm using it almost as much as my iMac, some days even more.

I use it daily when my daughter lets me. My main uses are Netflix, browsing, HBOGO, and magazines. I wish these were around when I was in school but then again, I may have not passed my classes.

I'm apparently in the minority here. I chose the "a few times a month" option. I got my iPad 1 in its opening week. I use it mainly for cooking and when I travel. It makes a great digital cookbook for websites and my recipes folder in drop box. When I travel, which isn't really all that often it is much easier to take then my MacBook. However, when I am at home, I still prefer to surf on my MacBook when on the couch. It's just easier for me to multi-task between many tabs, IMs, email, etc.

I absolutely do not regret buying my iPad, but I am in no rush to replace it with a newer generation.

Now that school is FINALLY over for me, I KNOW that I'll use it a lot less than I did. I've gone thru each generation while in school, and you'd be hard pressed to find a large percentage of people who used it to its full capacity as much as I have. For now, it will be used primarily for reading comics & YouTube/Netflix video watching. (Whaddaya know? Unlimited data actually came in handy!!) I resort to more phone usage only because it's more convenient/portable.

I think the iPad fits my needs nicely. I have an iPhone 4s, but the screen is too small to get real work done on it. (plus typing is a pain.) Typing on the iPad is a joy, and the screen is just big enough to get things done.

I think the iPad is really convenient to travel with. I have a macbook, but I hardly use it now. I mostly use my iMac for heavy work (software development, large financial models, etc.) my iPad for office work (Pages, Numbers, Wiki Editing, Reviewing and Signing documents), and my iPhone for basic communications and tethering.

For traveling, I much prefer the 11" MBA. The MBair feels nearly as portable, and the screen is always protected when closed. For word processing, keynote and intensive web browsing, it just flies compared to the iPad.

The MBA drawbacks are mainly shorter battery charge, awkwardness of portrait mode without external monitor and, until the next version, a less impressive (but still nice) screen.

At home I use the iPad several times per week but use the MBA daily. If I need iOS apps while traveling, I generally use an iPad touch (so I can easily make phone calls while using apps).

I only use it when I'm off work and take it to LA Fitness, so about 3-4 days a week.

...

I have owned all three ipads and for me it totally replaced my laptop. I bought a few laptops during that time thinking I was missing something on the ipad but each time returned it in the exchange period because the ipad does everything ai need it to do. I do prefer the ipad 2 over my new ipad though...retina is drastically overhyped.

It will take you less time than that to wonder how you ever lived without an iPad! :D

Um, yeah that was pretty much Day One. ;) Already attached at the hip. Love it!

You're clearly not a photographer! I waited for the retina display because I never liked the screen on the first two iPads. I'm curious to know why you prefer your iPad 2.

Lots. Still the quickest and most comfortable device to use to quickly look something up, check my mail on or play a quick game etc.

Every day. Come home from work, turn on the AV receiver pick up the iPad and start playing music (via an ATV). Play a few games, or do some browsing while I unwind.

For any email/typing intensive use, I'll always use a Mac though. I can type so much faster with a real keyboard, it's always worth the effort to get my laptop or use the desktop in the study.

3rd generations user - 1.5 to 2.5 hrs a day

I'm thinking M-F 1.5hrs - 2.5hrs a day and more on the weekends. Somedays more than others but I rarely use my MBA now at home. My MBA is my office PC though so it still clocks more usage overall. I have had an iPad since the 1st one though I did wait about 6 months to see if the plunge was worth it for me. I recently last month or so finally started to really use the ebook function and now read every lunchtime. I couldn't say if my screen was perfect as I have yet to even remove the plastic wrapper that comes on a fresh out the box iPad. :) yes I am different. :apple:

Bought the original iPad on launch day & used it tons daily. Bought the iPad 2 also on launch day & used it even more. Bought the iPad 3 16GB a bit after launch day and last month exchanged it for a White 64GB version which I use Super heavily due to so much space! lol :)

My uses are heavy on Entertainment like HBO GO, Netflix & gaming! Also books, Drawing/Art apps, recording my Therapy sessions, Writing, iTunes U and watching movies I download

recording my Therapy sessions,

Can I ask how you record them? Do you use an external mic (and if so which one), and which app, and how do you manage the recordings afterwards? I'm setting up as a hypnotherapist, and also need to be able to record my sessions.

Thanks.

OP - I use mine all day every day, still, and actually more and more. Recently 'got' how Notability works, and it's replaced paper completely in my world. Also recently got the Tivo app and a clever little utility that connects it to my UK Tivo. It's unbelievably good - so much better than Virgin Media's app, or Peanut remote. In fact, much, much better than using the physical remote for browsing, managing shows, setting up recordings, etc.

I use it every day, but some days quite a bit for work:

- client meetings (using Notetaker for handwriting)

- or showing preview videos of work I've done

- searching the web for information for clients

- my client database (Daylite)

If I didn't need the extra power of my macbook pro for video editing and if the iPad had a microsoft office version*, I probably wouldn't need the mbp.

* I don't mean to curtail the point of this thread, but that rumour of MS releasing an iPad office version is intriguing. I can think of a large group of people I know who would use and iPad exclusively if they had that available to them. BUT, I think maybe MS is waiting to release their own version for their rumoured tablets...
