Don't know about the rest of you but I need a longer cord to charge my iPad while using it sometimes. Has anyone seen any longer power cords?

Before you get the 6ft cord from apple, an extension cord works well.
Right... I've used USB extensions for years: None of the old Palm cables were long enough to reach from the back of a PC over the top of a desk to the front. (Yes, shoot me, I use PCs as well as Macs! 🙂 But only iPhones and iPads for mobile use now! 🙂 )

But having a couple of 6' USB extensions around is a life-saver, and better than scrounging for special longer cables (like here...). The 'heavy duty' standard iPad cable is fine with a USB extension.

Wirelessly posted (Opera/9.80 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/5.0.17405/1114; U; en) Presto/2.4.15)

Just wait for aftermarket 6ft cords. that's all that's different from our chargers. Just the cord.

All you gotta do is pop the prongs off the 10w adapter and plug a standard two prong extension into it from the outlet. These are pretty common I have several just laying around and I now have about 10 ft of power cord lol. Just pop the prongs off the adapter and look at it you will see what type of connection it has and if you look around i'm sure you have a cord somewhere that will plug into it.

i have the first gen macbook and the powercord is perfect! all i have to do now is clean the powercord to match the usb cable that came on ipad

Yea I was a little puzzled by Apple's "solution" as well. Why would you spend $29 on that when you could just buy something like this for like $2.99?

Another solution would be a USB cable extension vs Apple's solution, that way the adapter stays plugged in the wall, not near you on the bed or whatever. It's like $5 shipped for a 10' cable from Newegg.

Extension cord works fine for me, I always hated trying to plug the power brick directly into a power bar/surge protector anyway.

Get one of these for $1.78

It plugs right into the white 10w cube that comes with the iPad.

Hmm, I didn't know that would work... My camera uses that cord, so I've already got a few of those laying around. Wouldn't have even thought to try it, thanks.
