i just realised this is the longest time I've had one model of phone.

It's coming up for 2 yrs ( in a few months) since I had my 6 plus.

Thing is I love it. 128gig great screen, good camera. See no reason at all to change and not tempted by s upgrade.

The 7 has got to offer something earth shattering for me to change.

As long as the battery holds out ( and its so good)I want to hang on to this one.

I can see why iPhone sales are stalling as the 6 is so good

I think the longest time I had a phone was way back when I had a Nokia 6103. I had that phone for 2 and a half years (2006-2008).

I think I may do the same with my 6s plus. If the iphone 7 is going to be like the rumors say with the same body design and no OLED then I'll most like be keeping my 6s plus for two years until the iPhone 7s/8 comes out.

I usually hold onto my for 2 years, but now that I'll be paying full price that might change my buying habits.

You aren't bothered by the fact that the 6+ can't hold more than 2 safari tabs in memory?

Still enjoying my 6plus
I use safari with many tabs open
Yours doesn't?
I think you're misdirecting your question. I was posting that I never had an issue using Safari on my 6 plus (when I had the 6 plus). It was @Applefan4 who was questioning the user experience on the 6 plus with safari.

My 6+ also has many tabs open.

I'll keep using my 6+ until it dies. It does everything I need.

Previous phone was an LG on T-Mobile, had it for over 3 years, close to 4. A year before the 6+ was the first T-Mo had iPhones and I was hearing the next iPhone would be larger, so waited a year.

I feel the same way about the 6. No real need to upgrade but Apple's brilliance will guarantee iOS 10 will cripple the A8. I already see how much faster the 6S is compared to the 6. While I don't want to upgrade, it's a pain when the OS starts to lag.

I've had my 6+ for almost 2 years as well. My only complaint is the battery. It's a little worn down so a charge doesn't last as long, but that's pretty normal for an iPhone that's almost 2 years old.

Yes you're probably right there. I've had previous iPhones ( till now religiously brought every new iPhone including s 's) and one reason wax how unresponsive they became after the update meant for the next model... That and the batteries dying.

But I'll hang on upgrading iOS until I get confidence it's not going to cripple my beloved 6.

In the end apple is a very very successful business and they need us to keep on buying the latest model. Perhaps it's really because the latest hardware needs an iOS which slows the out of date hardware so I'll not be too quick to upgrade.

I've never had problems with Safari and have over 10 pages open- maybe I misunderstand what safari tabs are but it works fine for me.

I'm trying to think what features I need to change ??

Thinner I don't care about. Protruding camera doesn't bother me as my case takes care of it. More megapixels- why? Dual lenses- why maybe I don't understand what this is? Oled display?? So what. Faster so my pages load 0.2 secs faster ..
Force touch - why?

Waterproof- yes
More memory - maybe
Truly robust- maybe as my 6 plus has bent slightly

I guess I will be the one to say it. Its only been 1 year, 7 months and 11 days since the launch of the iPhone 6/6+. Not really sure how that is almost 2 years. Still have over 4.5 months to go.

Now with that being said, I will contribute to the thread. The longest phone I had was the iPhone 4s. Had it for about 15 months before the lock button died and upgraded to the 5. Wasn't originally going to do so, but once the lock button broke, didn't really have a choice. Couldn't stand using the on-screen assist controller.

I have a feeling this will be the case with my iPhone SE. The 5s was the phone that I kept the longest, but I think the SE will beat it. Timeless design, great size, great camera, great battery life. On top of that, I have AppleCare+ on it. So I think I'll be keeping it at least 2 years. :)

I'm guessing longevity with an iPhone (or any device) is rare now days?

Various flip phones from 1999 to 2007: Appx. 4 years.
Sanya Katana: 2.5 years.
HTC Touch Pro: 3.5 years
iPhone 5: 2.5 years

Currently seven months in on a 6s+. We will upgrade to the 7 this year and see Apple again in about 2.5 to 3 years.

In my never ending quest to collect all the iPhones I'm glad when I finally get the 6S+ and 6S as I've had them before but sold them and happily rocking my SE. Honestly if there were one...maybe two phones to keep me on them for a long time it would have been my Note 5 and SE. Honestly, I may keep tabs on the Note 6 as I still love Android, but right now at this point in time, the SE is ticking all the boxes for me. If Apple goes OLED or SAMOLED soon then I may give up Android but there is no denying Samsung has some beautiful screens.

Honestly I think the SE will keep me longer than anything else I've owned. I also kept my 5 longer than any other phone I've ever had.

I had my 5 since launch and just upgraded this January for the 6 after the battery died. I had the 5 for almost 3.5 yrs. I love the 6 but my wife wants it so I plan on passing it on to her this fall for hopefully something better.

The only iPhone I've ever missed is the 4S. Every S upgrade year I talk a tough game and tell myself I am going to wait but I always cave in. I really love the 6S and could envision myself skipping the 7 but I won't kid myself even if I don't get it on launch day I'll probably get it eventually :(

Yes you're quite right- I took a bit of a liberty with the two year thing. But by the time the 7 is available it will be well over two years since I had my 6 plus ( ordered in first hour).

I probably will get the 7 but it will not be an automatic reflex - if it's just a slightly faster 6 then I won't bother but I suspect the iOS update will make it slow down

Had the iPhone 5 for two full years, as well as the iPhone 4.

I loved both and that's why I kept them. Now I have a 6S, after owning a 6 plus for 1.5 years I had to downsize.

The original iPhone lasted me until I picked up the iPhone 4 but closer to the 4s release. Plastic 3G and 3GS never enticed me.

Back then I was on WiFi all the time and data was expensive so never needed to upgrade. And with jailbreak it could record video which wasn't on stock.

Still have it now and have reverted it back to stock 1.0 firmware.

These days I tend to change every six months.
