I've had several hairline scratches on my iPhone 5 since October 2013, and I'm still using it to this day.

My wife's iPhone 4S wasn't damaged per se, but after an IOS upgrade last year her battery life went from great to horrible. No matter what I did I was unable to remedy the problem from rebooting, to full system restore, to whatever. She was lucky to get an hour's life of battery before having to recharge her phone. It lasted for six months. Fortunately, she was eligible for an upgrade last month and I purchased the iPhone 6 for her. She hasn't put it down since!

Minor cosmetic damage? probably like 7 or 8 months.

Crack on the screen? 3 weeks.

Broken button? 2 days.

Dropped my iPhone 6 without a case from like 3 feet off of the ground. Had a small crack in the bottom corner of the phone outside of where the screen was so it wasn't a big deal for me. Went 2 months before doing an AppleCare claim on it. Then about a month after that I decided to get the Plus and I'm still going strong.

Never had any serious damage to one of my iPhones but back in 2011 my iPhone 4 had somehow gotten a long scratch across the screen. I kept it for about a week but it bugged me to the point that I decided to sell it and buy another one.

I dropped my iPhone 3G a few inches onto my table and it somehow completely busted the screen, so put a piece of clear tape over it for a five months until I had time to get a new one lol. Funny enough that second one didn't break for two years, even when I threw it against a wall.

Never. Worst damager ever, have been some slight hairline scratches on the screen, this is despite dropping my iPhone on hard floors and even on concrete outside. Although I have always taken care of my iPhones, I would not obsess.

I had a water damaged iPhone 4 for about a year before it started having too many problems so I replaced it. Initially it was fine except the led was stuck on at all times (fortunately at a very low brightness so it didn't hurt the battery life too much.)
