Lots of parking garages in the city have charging ports.
you mean the parking garages that charges 20 bucks an hour? yeah thats not feasible, i bought a parking space for 500 a month in my building on 72nd and there are no charging spots. same situation for literally the whole block on my street.

If you mean just Manhattan when you say NYC, that makes sense. But if you live in Queens, Brooklyn, Bronx or SI then youll more likely than not want a car.
Yeah, midtown Manhattan for now. Owning a car here does not make sense for me. This might be the first Apple Product category I don’t buy!

"Apple wants the ‌Apple Car‌ to be safer than cars from Tesla and Waymo, with backup systems to avoid driving system failures."

Tesla's Autopilot has led to several unusual accidents (i.e., in which the car didn't recognize a white colored tractor trailer against a bright sky, or the car veered off the road into a guardrail or into traffic cones, etc). Admittedly these happened in rare cases, but there is clear room for improvement.

A Tesla recently rammed a private jet on an airport tarmac. There’s quite a catalogue of catastrophic failures actually. (The guardrail or cone in one case was a concrete Jersey barrier that dismantled the car and driver.)

If I had to place a bet, I’d say Apple Car is not going to happen. But they do have a lot of money to burn and in the current environment, just those rumors have probably added a couple hundred billion to Apple’s market cap.

Really don't know how that's going to help Apple because I own a Ford product and their software is the worst ever. :)
I own a Mach E and the software on the car is very good and includes Apple Car play. It is a great car and Apple can definitely benefit from Ford’s manufacturing expertise. Where Ford could use improvement is on its mobile apps. Worst ever? You clearly don’t work in Windows and haven’t used a food ordering app.

lol ok, name tech that ford has the rest of the industry doesn't.
As far as I know, Ford is the only manufacturer that engineered its gas tanks not to need caps, which actually requires significant engineering. The onboard scale technology on its new F150 lightening is also pretty impressive in how it is used to calculate towing capacity and distance. Ford also has plenty of patents that have been issued as well as many that are pending.

I didnt mean the hourly places although sometimes you can work a monthly deal with them. $500 is reasonable for a parking spot. You can definitely find a garage around that price that has some charging spots. Not sure how close it would be to your building though. It is nice to have a spot in your building though.

Yeah, I wouldn't wanna be the guinea pig for the 1st batches of Apple Car. And if they also have it locked down like everything else, then no thanks.
Kind of like a Tesla in the lock down department except likely to be build much better than a Tesla.

When my buddy moved to the city he actually rented a spot across in NJ just off the Path. I think it was around $200 a month. When he started making better money he got one down the block from his apartment.

So launch must be imminent /s

Read an article yesterday that we should not expect the Apple car to cost less than 100k+.
So for all of you who want it, you’ll better start saving for the next 5+ years…
Maybe but for some products Apple really brought the pricing in for far less than expected.

It would be nice if Apple could at least verify working on an "Apple car", who cares if the project is eventually scrapped.

given that this is about apple car, which is a EV, i'm asking for EV relevance. but cool, didn't know about the gas cap.
