Is Liquid metal the stuff that bounces? Gosh I hope the iPhone doesn't bounce away from you like a Lacrosse ball, that'd be a great way to lose it in public :D

Na, you're thinking of Flubber. Liquid metal is actually a combination of three or more metals.

The more I think about it the more I think they big delay may in fact be for LTE. I know a lot of people point to the original iphone only having EDGE, and statements saying that the antenna's are still too large, but 2nd gen LTE antenna's are about ready, and quite possbily a big new feature apple could have been working on. Supposedly the forthcoming HTC Vigor and LTE SAMSUNG Galaxy S will also carry this 2nd gen anntenna that combines LTE with GSM on one chip. Apple can't fall that far behind Anroid on the 4G market, espcially as large as 4G footprint will be by the end of the year. Maybe it's just wishful thinking....

The Home button could be easily placed near the Power one. And the back could house a capacitive area for gestures. That would be neat.

Few things i disagree with though:

1) 40% chance of a curved design? I think it's much lower than that.
2) 70% chance of NFC? I'm not quite sure of that either.
3) 30% chance of a better battery? I think we'll be needing more to sustain the bigger screen and internals
4) 60% chance of 64GB storage? I highly doubt it, it should be much less
5) 50% chance of LTE/4G? More like 10%
6) The only thing they missed was that the silent/ring switch might be on the other side, and that the iPhone 5 might be bigger than the iPhone 4.

You forgot 7): 100% change of Freaking Awesome!

I'm inclined to think Apple is going to stay away from plastic, they seem to want to use higher grade materials regardless of the fragility of device. Here's hoping for aluminium/liquid metal. Actually, anything but glass would great.

Agreed, glass is just a horrible idea. I can't believe they implemented it in the first place.

I'm looking at either aluminium/liquid metal or plastic. The antenna design is in question as well..

I'm also of two minds on this. My source has been very cagey on this LTE question. In one conversation about LTE and iP5 they said 'Apple is rarely a leader in the radio space' but then said 'not necessarily' when asked if we were talking 2012 for an LTE iPhone.

The more interesting question for me is what VZW in particular is going to do about VoLTE handback in future devices. There's a looming tech gap for voice the solution for which is still TBD.

Nice find! It's good to have a visual on all the rumors floating around.

Woops sorry Reach9

no sweat, nice find though ;)

What do you think? Are the figures genuine? I think a better camera, bigger screen, A5 Dual core processor, and new design are more or less a given.

Not hearing much about NFC makes me believe that we won't see it until the 6, along with LTE and other good things Apple decides to omit from the 5.

I agree with everything your predicting brotha'. Your a veteran of macrumors so I pretty much just try to soak up the good info/opinions from you and the other vets here :)
- Bigger screen
- 8mp camera
- A5 processor
- Curved edges form factor

Other than that any of the other slim chance rumors (nfc, longer battery life, led indicator, lte) is pure gravy ;)

My Opinion

Same design as the iPhone 4? 10% chance, it's most likely that Apple want a new design after the iPhone 4's antenna fiasco!

New design? 90% chance, although i think it is likely that the iPhone 5 will have a new design, I don't think it will be a drastic redesign, more of a subtle design change with a new antenna.

iPhone 4 becomes the low cost model? 90% chance, it is very likely that this will happen as it always has in the past, although some parts, eg the glass, may be changed to reduce cost.

No home button? 0% chance, I just don't see it going, changing to something larger/smaller maybe, but not going all together.

Larger screen? 60% chance, I thought it was more of a 50% chance before, but the recent case leaks make me think it may be happening.

Better resolution? 0% chance, if the screen is 3.5", the res will stay the same, if the screen is enlarged, I think the res will drop slightly, but still be more than 300PPI.

White model? 100% chance, especially after waiting so long with the iPhone 4.

Better camera? 100% chance, the camera has always been upgraded and i think it is nowhere near as good as it could be.

1080p recording? 50% chance, it depends on whether the camera is upgraded enough for it.

Curved screen? 0% chance, I just don't see it happening!

NFC? 25% chance, its possible, but I just don't think it's mainstream enough for Apple to justify wasting battery life with it just yet.

Enhanced voice control? 10% chance, I think it has to become more refined and reliable before it can be enhanced.

A5, more RAM and better battery? 100% chance, I think these are the three things that we can be certain of.

64gb? 75% chance, I think now SSD storage is getting cheaper, there will be a 64gb option this time round.

HDMI output? 0% chance, the iPhone has airplay for that.

4G? 25% chance, like NFC, i dont think it's mainstream enough for Apple to warrant the battery life for.

And finally, at this point and after such a long wait, I think the event and thus the release of the iPhone 5 could be announced any day now, I think Apple are trying to hurry as best they can though as I'm sure they'll know that contracts are ending and customers are jumping ship.

They're my thoughts anyway.

Don't think I'll upgrade since my IP4 was replaced 2 months ago for a unresponsive home button. I sure hope the next release, if not the IP5, replaces the mechanical home button with something else. Most don't like using cases but I had to go with the Otterbox defender b/c of my dusty work environment.
