TomTom announcement. Tomorrow. A guess, but the move that has happened to Trails through a change by Google in their policy on maps indicates there's a possibility we're going to see news on SatNav etc, and other apps tomorrow.

Nothing has changed in Google's policy. Their existing Maps API license (not changed since Nov, 2008) has always stated that any use of the Maps API by a third party must be available without charge (i.e. not in a paid app) unless you get prior permission from Google (e.g. like Apple surely did for Maps.app).

Fair does. It's still interesting that Apple uses Google, which uses Tele Atlas, which is TomTom, who have an app but aren't showing it, and that SatNav capabiliites have been seen in Core Location updates, and would be new hardware features in a few months, but nothing in the SDK yet, which is getting updated today.

So RunKeeper has to change also? Or just Trails?

With iPhone OS 3.0 preview coming up within next couple of days, I can share this:

Couple of days ago, my friend who works at Apple HQ in Cupertino sent me some of the screenshot for upcoming iPhone OS 3.0.

Sadly, attached with the email was also a PDF of NDA, which I had to sign and mail back. Therefore, I can't share the actual screenshot.

However, I can describe it to you, since Kevin Rose described it on live Diggnation. (which my friend attended, he's a huge fan of Diggnation)

First, the copy and paste. Kevin Rose got that right on! It is exactly how it works. However, Apple, always scared of battery issue, has limited the copy and paste to certain apps, such as Mail, Safari, etc. This is because iPhone and iPod touch uses lot of power on memory, therefore, the copy and paste is limited. But the how it works is exactly how Kevin Rose described it.

Now, the background process. The word is that Push Notification was failure. It did not work exactly as planned. Therefore, there will be a limited background support, up to 3 apps (may subject to change). The limit is to prevent iPhone from draining the battery like crazy hell.

Finally, redesign of the home screen. Not much changes, except users can now put personal background on the home screen, as well as adding more apps to the dock, expanding the limit from four to about seven, and stacks to organize the apps. This is how Apple will let users organize apps on the iPhone.

Now, my friend also sent me shots of what is the next iPhone. Someone already posted this pic, but the next iPhone will have a shell that is full unibody, carved from one aluminum. This means plastic will be gone (hopefully)

That's all I can share. Let's hope what I got on the email is right on for Mar. 17.

Sounds cool and all... but i think you are using already release info like kevin rose copy and paste mixing it with fake info. First even if you got the screenshot how come you cant share it? The Print screen is always available also in mac...

This thread has proved why forums are entertaining. If people just wanted to read rumors they would go to sites like engadget or gizmodo. Fact is, people want to talk and converse about them because it is interesting.

Whether the OP is lying or not (I tend to believe him, but that's neither here nor there) it did start a very good conversation, albeit it with some off topic comments.

Point is, this is why we come to Macrumors, to talk about something we enjoy.

Nice post.

If anything, it's nothing to get bent out of shape over, lol. :D

Hey, I'm having fun, anyone else?

So, who thinks we'll see a release date announced for the Palm Pre today, oh say, right around Apple's meeting or shortly thereafter?

These pics from my sources might fit perfectly here. What do you think Gentlemen?

No offense OP, but all this "info" has been going around the rumor mills for a while now. I could have created a similar thread pointing out the most logical rumors and saying that I have a friend who is in the know.

Now as to an NDA, that stands for Non Disclosure Agreement. You "signed" a document that said you would not DISCLOSE information on what you saw, yet you are here and telling us alll about it?

You probably should have titled this thread "My Prediction Thread".

That actually looks pretty nice.

I'm not sure they'd go with the mic on the face though. Guess it would mean two speakers and better sound quality...

Love the idea of the status indicator. Hate the mail icon. I've avoided several themes because of that icon.

Not bad - I'd expect less 'Air' in it, but that's just me.

Anyway, I was looking for a thread to post this on, and this is the closest as your rumored hardware picture showed up:

Will Apple will be able to go back to an all-metal design for the iPhone again thanks to the technology used on the unibody MacBooks? The holes for the speakers are cut incredibly thin with lasers: would this be small enough to let radio waves out and not too much dust in?

.. still, you wouldn't want to drop it in your beer!

You do realize that is the old 3G icon right?

Also, why would it not be showcasing the new 3.0 software update with updated springboard? I agree, it is fun to speculate, and who knows who is right and wrong, and who was right last week bu t then something changed internally at Apple and it is no loger true, it's still a lot of fun to speculate and discuss all of this stuff. In the end it helps pass the time with people who also enjoy this subject and are eagerly awaiting whatever is coming up next from Apple.

OUCH 0 for 3. Stop spreading false info around here!
