Hi all!

I've joined these forums as I'm at a bit of a loss on how to locate an installer for Mojave 10.14.5 for a project on an old intel 2019 15" MacBook Pro that shipped with this version. I've had trouble locating it and was wondering how I could possibly find it. I am very grateful for any support or advice on this.

This support article from Apple Support describes how to download and create a bootable USB drive with any version of macOS from El Capitan to Tahoe:

Thank you for your kind support on the procedure involved! I love the Obi Wan icon!

My biggest worry is that I cannot find the exact version mentioned in the heading of the post as it predates the final version of Mojave. I’m after the specific version of 10.14.5, shipped with my MacBook Pro, whereas the final version is 10.14.6. Don’t suppose you know where I can find one

Is there a specific reason you need 10.14.5? Because 10.14.6 contains bug fixes and improvements so it would be better than 10.14.5.

I will be totally honest with you, I need to see very specific behaviours with that exact version. For example, just as one example specifically, would its behaviours with date modified and date added behave the exact same with files and folders as .6 would. It’s embarrassing and I hope you can understand, but I suffer with quite severe OCD and I am desperately after this exact version. Many thanks for the understanding

If you can get any Mac running any earlier version of Mojave, you could install this Combo updater:

and then build a boot disk with 10.14.5 from there.

Wow, excellent, thanks for your help. I suppose I could get an older MacBook running say, High Sierra then upgrade to Mojave, then use the update provided. Do you by chance know if the combo updater is the same 18F132? I must say your response has given me relief. Thank you kindly

This model originally shipped with 10.14.5, so it is the minimal version of macOS that will run on this model.
Incredible, does it find any versions? Like the one I need? Thank you so much for your response
It does.

I don't see why .5 and .6 would behave differently since they're both 10.14. But, I understand.

Have you tried doing the Internet Recovery option to reinstall macOS? Supposedly, if you hold down Shift-Option-Command-R, this will download the macOS that came with your MacBook Pro.

I don't think it matters much as that later build 18F2059 was specifically for 2019 MBA and 2019 13" MBP. Nothing would have changed related to your 2019 15" MBP.
I should clarify, do you think that OS has an impact on timestamps? Pertinently, it trying to determine when I added a folder to iCloud, something that is aggravating my ocd terribly. I have noticed through various forums dating back to High Sierra days that when a folder is updated to iCloud, the date modified changes to the date and time of upload whereas files don’t. I have replicated this consistently on Mojave 10.14.6 last week, as well the most recent version of Mac OS many many times. Now I’m worried that the version which shipped with my Mac might not have shown this behaviour.

I know it sounds a bit neurotic but it’s to do with my condition and how it pertains to having exact dates etc. Maybe you know if the date modified timestamp changing for folders is from the OS side or the iCloud side? It would alleviate a great deal of anxiety for me

I am grateful for your understanding, truly. I know it’s neurotic of me but it’s an unfortunate ailment of mine.

To answer your question, I tried the internet recovery option, but .6 was the only available build owing to the fact it’s the most up to date revision of Mojave. Perhaps you might have the knowledge I need to bypass this altogether?

As mentioned in my reply to Bigwaff:

Apple keeps logs on all your activity with their services on their servers. If you to your Apple ID account management page, there is an option to download your data logs. That information would likely be somewhere in there. In my experience with the Apple Music data logs for example, it logs these actions down to the millisecond! Though, the logs can be extremely large and very unorganized. But, It may take a while (about a month ) for Apple to process your request and deliver it to you.

I think I understand the issue. For iCloud folders, the Date Modified does change when the contents of the folder are changed, whether a file is added or edited. You can try adding the "Date Created" column in Finder, which shows when the folder was created and that won't change by any edits to its contents.

I also think this behavior is normal and by design. I don't think sticking to 10.14.5 will stop this from happening. But I could be wrong. It does annoy me when a folder's "Date Modified" sometimes changes for no reason because I use the date as a marker of how long since I've done anything to it. So I completely understand wanting to keep a folder's date unchanged.

I hope this explanation helps.

Sorry, I didn’t really explain properly

I’m looking for the exact date I uploaded a folder to iCloud. Forums in their numbers from 2018 onwards describe how adding a folder to iCloud always changes the date modified. Now essentially, when a folder is uploaded, I’ve noticed it retains its date created, whereas the date modified changes to the upload to iCloud date.

With this, I’ve finally ostensibly found a way to discover when i uploaded my folder to iCloud. My fear, which is probably irrational, is that the exact version of Mojave I had at the time:

I think it was 18F132 <—

Somehow didn’t do this, robbing me of my ability to ascertain the upload date.

The good news is that iCloud changing the date modified to the date of upload seems incredibly consistent on all other versions I’ve tried, including 10.14.6 and the newest Mac OS. Forum posts dating back to High Sierra even talk about the behaviour of iCloud changing folder date modified to that exact date and time of upload. Every time I’ve tried, multiple times, iCloud does replicate the behaviour of changing the modified date to the upload date and time.

I’ve even got old emails telling me my iCloud is almost full on the exact time and date that matches date modified on my folders, suggesting this is the case. Unfortunately, with the severity of my condition, I want to try the exact version I would have had at the ostensible time of upload (date modified on iCloud) to be certain.

If I knew that iCloud changes modified date of folders on upload specifically for the version I seek, or at least that an upgrade from .5 to .6 wouldn’t have had any impact on its behaviour in doing so, it would finally quell what is essentially a very big OCD fear I’ve been having.

I sincerely thank you for your time and patience, taking the time to support someone who frankly has a severe condition. The kindness and help everyone on this board has shown me might seem like a small favour, but to me and my condition it is sincerely appreciated.

This sounds promising! Thank you so much for your suggestion and your time

I once knew someone who could tell you the date and time of every single memory of every event in his life he could remember. Utterly fascinating. He could also instantly tell you the day of the week for any random date in the Gregorian calendar. Mind-blowing.

I hope you find what you're looking for.

Wow, what I wouldn’t give to have this talent. It would be the perfect antidote to my condition. Thanks for your message!

It’s called hyperthymesia
60 minutes interviewed 5 people with condition. Fascinating interview. Interestingly, actress Marylou Henner (of Taxi fame) was one of them.
