The Nude for the iPad 2 fits the The New iPad. I've had the clear for two weeks, very nice fit and design.

Thanks for sharing, BJ.

I wrote to Switcheasy in late March 2012 regarding the Nude for the New iPad.

Their reply:

Yes, this model will be launched on our Online Sales Website very soon.

Regards,
SwitchEasy Team (International)

May just go for the current Nude for iPad 2 ... :)

One thing you have to know if you are thinking of getting the SwitchEasy NUDE, THE iPAD 2 VERSION.

It does fit the iPad Gen3 but it is really really tight. Skin users beware, you will have a very hard time trying to snap this case on.

Decided to give this one a try. Not perfect (large opening at bottom, still) but it's the first polycarbonate hard shell case with rubberized finish I've seen that has the entire left side completely covered so we can get an equal and balanced east/west grip.

Could live without the speaker opening, could live without the strange corner groovage, could live without the large logo, but for $5.49 it's worth a shot.

We have a winner (so far)!

Just received the Monoprice Premium Polycarbonate Case w/ Rubber Coating for iPad 3 in black and it's very, very close to what we're looking for. It's currently the only ultra-thin back shell that gives complete coverage on the left and right sides for a consistent feeling in the hand. It's upper and lower edges are the only negatives as they are rather exposed.

In lieu of someone taking the Marware Microshell and covering the damn Smart Cover opening and/or thinning out the SwitchEasy Nude with rubber paint, this Monoprice shell is the answer right now. And at $5.45 it's not going to break the bank.

Incidentally, I currently do have a clear back skin for my new iPad, cos' I thought of this as a "temporary" (rear body protected) solution until I get the SE Nude for iPad Gen3. Thanks for the heads up! :)

Closeups of the Monoprice Premium Polycarbonate Case w/ Rubber Coating for iPad 3. Note the complete coverage on the right and left sides (no opening for the Smart Cover at all, amen!) and how the edges of the case creep and adhere right over the aluminum edge of the screen. It doesn't jut out above the glass, rather it sits slightly below it, just like the glass itself. So you don't have any trenching or dust collecting, very flush and thus very thin feeling in the hands.

The corner cuts are there to alleviate pressure; many thin plastic back shells are prone to cracking if taken on/off too frequently. This design addresses this.

I'm surprised the Incipio NGP has not received attention.. Or is it considered too thick?

I had the Smart Cover / Smart Feather iPad 2 combo and now have both iPad 3 and Incipio NGP on order.

Yes, it's considered too thick and too soft for the purposes of this thread and what we're looking for which is a hard-shell that's super thin, super light, and covers everything whilst ignoring that Smart Covers exist.

Incipio calls it "Next Generation Polymer" which is marketing-speak for "TPU" just like all the other gummy/gel-like covers out there. The shells we're discussing are hard enough to cut through a block of cheese. It's what real men use.

Can you please expand on the difficulties of fitting the Nude for iPad 2 to the new iPad please JB? You say it's possible but hard. Any tips? Likelihood of damage to the iPad? Etc...

TIA, Tim

The Nude for iPad 2 fits the The New iPad just fine. My issues are:

1. Caseback bows ever-so-slightly, a little bulge in the back.

2. Sharp edges feel very foreign in the hand, dig into your palms in book mode.

3. Thick edges add a lot of bulk compared to other shells.

4. While preventing the iPad aluminum from scratches the case itself is a scratch-magnet due to its crystal-clear (like a picnic dinner fork) construction.

5. Unlike rubberized cases, the hard plastic doesn't wick away moisture, a very sweaty experience.

In the end, it boils down to sacrificing comfort and functionality for cosmetics. I don't use it anymore.
