Thanks for the 'heads-up', I just grabbed one also, even though by the time it gets to me in Western Canada it's more like $80 can.
Still a 12" PB always been on my list, and I've come very close to paying more several times in the past.

Yes, let me thank you also for posting this.

I have a 12" PB, but I paid plenty since it had an SSD in it and is nice and functional. I actually use it(i.e. do real work on it). I'm looking forward to getting a cheap, working one to play with a little bit.

hell, i bought one and i don't even want the thing. if it works halfway decently i suppose i can give it away. how many shopping days until christmas?

WHY did I have to read this thread. I am so tempted to pull the trigger on one of these... but honestly I have NO use for one. Want it... but dont need it :(

The one I bought back in December came with two NuPower brand batteries from OWC. Both still work well, although the newer of the two(they are dated) is better. I think the newer of the two was made in July 2014.

The OWC batteries are a bit more expensive than the $20 Ebay ones, but I've had such mixed luck with cheap Ebay ones that any future purchases I make will be from OWC.

EDIT:

It looks like Newertech has discontinued the 12" PB battery...

There are several generic brand batteries on Ebay for $15-30...you might have to chance on one of those.

Someone post the best 1gb ram upgrade deal. $19.99 is cheapest I have found so far on Amazon.

Any generic unbuffered, low density, non ECC DDR 1gb PC-2700 SODIMM will work.

I bought a pair on Ebay a week or two back-one for my iBook and one for my iMac G4-for $25 including shipping.

They're all over Ebay for this price.

Macs tend to prefer low density-at least in the highest capacity chip the model you are working with will accept-so that's most important.

PC-3200 SODIMMs will also work.

Seems like a good deal, I got my 12 inch 1.5 for $45 local and upped the ram for $20. Battery is almost dead but I don't use it for any real work and it stays at home in my closet of macs!
