Why is no one buying these things, they are legends
Speaking only for myself…

It's between paydays.
I much prefer the 17" PowerBooks. If there was one in this condition for the same price I'd be moving.
There are currently at least 9 PowerPC Macs in this house. Justifying another Mac and one that's not my preference, to my wife would be a very hard sell. Especially when two are disconnected, one needs to be put back together, another is not being used and one (the most powerful, an iMac G5) sits idle all day.

For me, that's why. :D

Can people who ordered one create a new thread which shows them off?

I decided to buy one---it was an impulse buy, but I have sort-of been wanting one, and I thought I would treat myself with some of that birthday money. I'd be glad to participate in a thread for these!

There were/are two left after buying one. These things go quickly; I had seen 9 left earlier today.

There were "more than 10" both before and after I bought mine earlier today(within a few seconds of initially posting in this thread).

I noticed that the seller showed a stock photo with them running Tiger...I'll be interested to see if they do actually Leopard installed. It's no big deal for me either way.

I have sort-of been wanting a 12" PBG4, so I decided to treat myself to one (especially since this deal was pretty nice). I have ~34 PPC Macs, and I currently use three of them mainly. Don't feel bad if you've got some sitting, in general! Though, I understand your other reasons; what I said can apply to other things.

Then again, if I have a wife in the future, I would NOT keep 34 PowerPC Macs around her! xD

Yes, let me thank you also for posting this.

I have a 12" PB, but I paid plenty since it had an SSD in it and is nice and functional. I actually use it(i.e. do real work on it). I'm looking forward to getting a cheap, working one to play with a little bit.

The eBay seller needs to thank the OP for posting as well, since they posted the link the PowerBooks have been selling fast. As a matter of fact I just bought one as well :D and currently just one left.

If I was not married there would be a lot of things I don't have right now.

It's not that I am denied those things, it's just that there are other priorities and purchasing a 'redundant' (as the British would say) Mac is not high on HER list of priorities. :D

I'm pretty sure that's an older version than Tiger in the stock photo. Clearly not even of the same generation of PowerBook G4.

I started the thread cause the deal just seemed too good to be true, needed the intelligence of the MacRumors community to see if maybe there was something I was overlooking.

Since several of us bought one, we all need to post pics to this thread when they arrive.

I was just about to create the thread, but I thought that you should have the honors of doing so, since you found the listing!

We'll make sure to post photos of our laptops there; see you all there soon.

Yep--I bought the third-to-last one! I agree, 'KevinRightWing' really ought to message the seller about this. Not sure what kind of credit he'd get, but I suppose it deserves a thank-you.

Alright I will start the thread.

Same here, and $100 is going to new glasses tomorrow. I always suffer after the holidays too.

Otherwise I'd loved to have pick up one of these.

good news! when i told someone that i bought this thing for $46 she offered me $20 for it sight unseen. i may have found someone to give it to. (i really don't want this thing)

Would anyone pull the trigger on this:

Look at this on eBay:

http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=271685744808

Apple PowerBook G4 12.1” 10.5 80GB HD 512MB 04 Office 1.5 Ghz M9690LL/A
crazy that a seller has 22+ of the same model!

An offer where the price doesn't hurt, but one could always consider a 12" 1,33GHz ibook with the better graphics card (does the GPU in the PB have CoreImage/OpenGL/Quartz-Extreme? I always mix up, what is the missing feature in some GPUs, that is nice to have for 3D games and OS 10.5, though I run 10.4 anyway). Well on the other hand, the 0,17GHz more might do more (be a bigger advantage) than the different GPU.

I always wonder, if professional sellers put real effort in refurbishing it and do a better hardware check, than a private person can do. I mean refurbished and checked is one big argument for most buyers.
