Yep, agreed. Thought in Texas AT&T is solid especially in the rural areas where Verizon is weak. My work was AT&T, I had Verizon, and my phone was no cell signal in many areas traveling between cities on not major highways where AT&T just worked pretty much everywhere.

Yeah their are mutual areas where they flip flop like that, but not many

Yep both At&t and Verizon have some weak areas as the long star state is very vast. But in my use T-mobile and Sprint coverage holes are a lot worst in that regard.

I was with T-Mo for years, but switched to ATT to get the iPhone. Big mistake. No matter where I was; home, work, on the road or hotel, just overall bad reception and a high phone bill, while my wife stayed on T-Mo and had no problems. When T-Mo offered several years back to pay off your contract, I made the switch back and have now 3 unlimited phone lines for $80 ($100 per month, but if you use less than 2GB per month you get $10 discount), about the same amount as I had with ATT for 1 line.

You write coverage is fine for you, speeds are a bit slower. I would be fine with that as I am not a heavy user and most of the time on WiFi. If there is an occasion where coverage is bad or not great, I am actually a bit happy so I can detox a bit from the phone.

I get AMAZING COVERAGE with T-Mobile everywhere for the most part.

Verizon is overpriced and restrictive; AT&T has lost their way and is no longer focused on wireless. Sprint, well that's self explanatory.

T-Mobile provides the best overall value and performance. If you have any concerns get Xfinity Mobile as a back up, best of both worlds!!

T-Mobile treats me like VIP, not leaving anytime soon.

Tmobie prices are great. I was with ATT before looking for unlimited plan. Currently at Tmobile I have
2 iPhones 2 iPads 2 Apple Watches Sync drive and NameId $157/month. I am on the tmobile one military plan and without that it would be another 20 or so dollars. At att all that would be about $280/month....

Chicago here. Switched to TMO from ATT 2 years ago. With the two lines, I’m saving $60+ a month. ATT wouldn’t even give me the time of day at a store in person a month before my contract was up. No attempt to keep my business. Adios! Been very happy with TMO. Of course, location and coverage matter.

I tried Tmobile a few years ago and dropped them within days due to poor reception. I tried them again last October and am actually very happy with them this time. Their reception has improved greatly and continues to do so as they roll out their 600mhz coverage. Compared to AT&T which I also have on a prepaid plan, it's really 6 of 1, half dozen of the other. Sometimes Tmobile will drop signal, sometime AT&T will. I can't really see an advantage to either.

A couple of other perks...I am over 55 so I qualify for the senior plan which is $50/month unlimited. My wife is also on the plan so that brings us each down to $35/mont. Also, with Tmobile I get MLB.TV for free.

More important than the price is the service which varies from place to place
Be sure that where you intend to use your phone has good service (work, your home, etc) from the carrier you select

Talk directly with someone at the AT &T STORE. WE DO THIS ALL THE TIME AND GET BETTER PRICING.
I’ve had cell phones since the original Motorola brick and have tried almost every carrier.
AT&T, whether at a store or over the phone has been the best, especially for coverage and reception. As someone else said, a <little> more expensive but you truly get what you pay for.
My main area is upper northeast US with travel up and down east coast mostly.

I am considering moving into TM. I have been with AT&T for many years. I was able to get somewhat fair prices, but right now TM deals are excellent. Netflix, free data abroad and unlimited data for four lines at $140 is just too good not to jump in.
My only concern is about the reception in my area. I live in an urban environment (La Jolla/San Diego), so it should be good. I asked a friend who has TM, and he says it is perfect. I wonder about using it in Mammoth Lakes (CA) where I go often. I need to switch and try.

AT&T could do way better on their pricing, but they are not changing their old ways, so I am glad competition is here. Their loss.

I left AT&T after 10 years and never looked back in October of 2014.

At least T-Mobile gives the perception of caring. Make the switch... You won't regret i.

I switched from AT&T to T-Mobile about a year ago. Back in November I got my parents and brother, who were on a sprint family plan to switch on to mine so we could take advantage of the $35 a month per line plan. I've had no issues. The pricing is good and here in NYC the coverage seems good. I've not noticed any issues when leaving the city either. Any spotty reception areas are usually where it's spotty for most carriers. I know people said their coverage was bad before but apparently they've spent the last couple of years or so really expanding coverage.

In order to determine which carrier is best for you it’s important to see how it works in places you frequent such as your home, your job etc. There is no one service that’s the best for everyone

You seem to be in the same boat I was in 6 months ago. I had ATT for years and finally made the switch to T-Mobile. So far it’s been very good in all of So Cal. I hit a dead spot every now and then but I’m not one of those people who’s on their phone all of the time. For La Jolla the coverage has been fine each time I go over there.

I just went to Mammoth a couple of months ago and I was nervous that I wouldn’t have coverage. But in town and on the mountain I got coverage whenever I checked. I was able to make calls and had data when I needed. The drive up and down 395 had a few areas where there wasn’t LTE coverage but it wasn’t as bad as I expected it to be. Being so remote I expecting miles of no signal. However, I was able to stream the basketball tournament so in my book it was fine.

T-Mobile has become super super congested where I live. Sub Mbps speeds all over town and jitters are sometimes over 1,000ms on Ookla's app to their own server in Minneapolis. Just make sure that the phone works during peak hours, AT&T can generally manage that with all of their spectrum but T-Mobile is definitely overselling their network.

Awesome. Thanks for the info.
