I didn't even know you were able to reserve over the phone. If I knew that I would have done it weeks ago. That being said I called the Apple store at Roosevelt Field Mall in Long Island and reserved it. I asked if they got a huge shipment in the weekend and she said that they did, and it was very big. So, here's hoping I get an email tomorrow.

Apple store San Francisco has rope and stanchion out front on the sidewalk. I assume the line (of 6 or so people right now) means that they're doing first come, first served iPhone sales.

See my thread titled "Apple store is rediculous" if your thinking about putting your name on a list, or just did it yesterday.

since your spelling of the word "ridiculous" is ridiculous, I'll take your post with a grain of salt.

I went to an apple store this morning(The Westchester, NY) and was told over the phone that they had some for walk-ins. I got there and they told me no.

I ordered through att and I'm looking at a Week wait

Hey guys. I just got back. I've been out all day and decided to go ahead and pick up the iphone I had reserved.

It is interesting that others are having the same experience while it seems some stores did not get phones to clear off the lists.

anyway, what was interesting is that when I got there the guy asked "which do you want?" I said "well, I reserved a 16gb. could I get a 32?" He said, "yeah, we got a bunch in. enough for the preorders and a bunch for just stock. so if you wanna change to a 32 you can."

also, I already had an iphone from launch but was actually going to buy a white one at the no commitment when it came out. since it looks like it the white one may never come, I went ahead and bought this one (will probably give it to my Dad) anyway. he asked me to start putting my info in on the computer and i said "I am going to pay the full price and it is a gift so I dont need to do any set up." he got the phone, rang it up i paid with a card and I left.

it has been said, by me as well, that you have to have an att account and the info to buy it at no commitment. He never asked for any info. nor did he ask if i was an att customer. just took my card and handed me the phone still sealed.

Thought i would share that.

I think it is whenever they get a shipment in. From what I understand from talking to different employees is that there is no set time for a delivery. they could come in the morning or around 2:30pm.

I am 98% positive that they dont get any deliveries on sunday. none of the delivery companies deliver on Sunday. therefore, if you have not gotten an email yet I would not hold my breath. Sorry:(

An Apple store employee I called a few days ago said they get deliveries every day, but he could be wrong; I didn't specifically ask about Sunday.

Yeah, I was in shipping for a few years and from what I know about UPS, FEDEX, USPS, DHL. is that they dont deliver on Sundays. BUT! who knows, maybe apple has some type of agreement with one of them.

They may or may not get shipments on Sundays, but I just got me email saying mine is ready!

It could be that they didn't want to send all the emails yesterday, for fear of 3+ hour long waits.

That's the one. I'll just order through AT&T if nothing comes in by Monday. I still think the rumor may have some merit, so I took my chances!

If you're in philly, why would you ever travel all the way to KoP... there are far closer stores.

If Apple sent massive shipments to their stores, then wouldn't AT&T stores also be given more stock?

not necessarily. In fact maybe the opposite. Apple has been known to take care of their retail demand first, then their channel partners 2nd.

the decision to direct massive deliveries to their retail stores may have been accomplished by diverting stock that was initially set to be sent to AT&Ts and Best buys.

You ordered through AT&T I take it?

Ya that's what I thought too and would explain the almost two week backorder on the AT&T thread.

Walked into an applestore (South Center Mall for the WA folks) and bought one. Quoting the person on the phone "We have tons of 16 iphone 4's."
