Are the payments from this class action rolling out gradually? I'm pretty sure I selected PayPal (if that was an option?), but haven't heard anything from them since the email with my confirmation code last May.

It came in my email this morning, and like others here, the only option given is a digital check prompting me to enter my banking details, which I'm not inclined to do. Gemini AI, if you believe it, says they are trying to force claimants to use that method because it is the cheapest for them -- no PayPal or Venmo transactions fees, no postage, etc. Gemini also says that if I ignore the digital check, once it expires they are obligated to mail a paper one. It also suggests I can write to the claims administrator ( info@LopezVoiceAssistantSettlement.com ) and ask them to cancel the digital payment and issue a paper check immediately. User @pauli123 (above) says he did send that email; I'm hoping he'll come back to tell us the response to that email, and if successful, this is the route I'm planning to use.

I feel like I'm talking to myself here 😂, but in an effort to be helpful, came back to this thread to let others know what I did.

PayPal has a direct deposit feature with its own routing and account numbers. I signed into PayPal to get them, and on the same page I was able to turn off direct debit, so I can only receive money. Then I entered them into the Clearpathpayments site that I was directed to from my digital check, and choose "Personal checking" as the type of account. It seemed to work great, and said my money should appear within three days.

I have received "e-checks" that I could print out and then used the deposit feature of my banking app to deposit. Those worked fine, and I didn't have to give out any personal data.

Thanks, but unfortunately that doesn't seem to be an option on the site that the claims administrator is using. I'd have preferred a printable e-check to jumping through hoops with PayPal.

From me:
Thank you for your reply. I still feel unsure about sending in my banking information. Is there another way to receive the payment? Zelle or Venmo? If not, I would like to request a physical check.

From them:
Thank you for contacting the Lopez Voice Assistant Settlement Administrator

If you would prefer to not enter your banking information, a Paper Check can be issued.

Please provide your address to request a paper check be issued to you. Please be advised that paper check issue requests will not be mailed for approximately 30 days and will only be reissued if the e-check remains outstanding.

Thank you,
Lopez Voice Assistant Settlement Administrator

Interesting, but it says they will wait 30 days for them to mail it. I like @Bichon's idea of using PayPal's routing numbers, but @Bichon, won't you have to turn on debits later, to pay for stuff? Nefarious people would still have your account number. I use PayPal occasionally to pay for stuff online, also some reoccurring subscriptions, although I admit I don't know the in's and out's of how debits work with PayPal. Geez, I feel like I'm back where I started from, and going down an endless rabbit hole...

Thanks for following up and letting us know what what settlement administrator said.

As to PayPal, the switch I turned off just prevents ACH direct debits, which is where a company pulls money from your PayPal balance using an account and routing number, in much the same way they would with a bank. That's a process I've never used with PayPal, and won't miss. It doesn't stop you from going through the normal PayPal checkout process with a merchant where they redirect you to PayPal, you indicate if you want to pay with a linked credit card or your PayPal balance, and you approve the transaction.

My e-mail check is only $16.04. There is no way I am going to give what looks like a sketchy company my checking account info. Apple knows this and is hoping many will not claim the funds. Apple needs to be called out on this maneuver. I feel confident that within a year, we will get a message about a data breach from this company that releases any bank information. As a former retail banker, my advice is to run from the offer to give them your banking info. Not even getting $40.00 is worth the risk. This is a sleazy way to do business.

A few months ago, I also received a similar email, although the money was deposited directly without me doing anything on Paypal, many do not like to give their bank account, neither do I, but since I have, many open checking accounts (they are free) I occupy one in which I never put money, and this was what appeared on that page, in 3 days I will see if it was real or not

I provided my banking yesterday and I see the deposit is pending this morning. Should hit that account as good funds on Monday at which time I’ll move the funds to my primary account. The bank account I gave them is one where I keep a zero balance with no overdraft protection that I fund when my cell service and alarm service are due to be paid. If someone tries to debit funds from that account at any other time, the request will bounce.

I also got the $40.10 email but my understanding is this was supposed to be up to $100 max, $20 per Siri enabled device. I have 8 of these things in my house and was offered $40 in an email that’s intentionally designed to look scammy and keep people from claiming their checks.

The $100 was contingent on X number of claimants. If more than whatever X was filed, the individual payouts would be reduced. The total being paid had a max amount.

I requested a paper check since I didn't want my bank info floating around out there (anymore than it already is). I received my check for $16 plus some odd change. With 2 devices at that time.

that's true... but the person(or company) that wrote the check will eventually see your bank routing number and account number after you deposit it. their bank will have the information because they need to keep track of where the check is being deposited to. when I log into my bank's website to view the images of the checks that I write, the other person's bank acct# shows up on the back of the paper check that I write.

however, it's still good practice to keep a spare free checking account(real bank or Venmo or otherwise). 🙂

That is not the routing number or the person’s checking account number on the bank of the check, or at least not on the checks at the bank I worked at or the one I use now.

I also emailed info@lopezvoiceassistantsettlement.com and received the following response:

Thank you for contacting the Lopez Voice Assistant Settlement Administrator

Plaintiffs alleged that confidential or private communications by current or former owners or purchasers of Siri Devices were obtained by Apple and/or shared with third parties as a result of an unintended Siri activation, and brought claims including alleged violation of consumer protection laws and privacy laws. Apple denies all of the allegations made in the lawsuit and denies that Apple did anything improper or unlawful. Apple asserts numerous defenses to the claims in this case. The proposed settlement to resolve this case is not an admission of guilt or wrongdoing of any kind by Apple.

Payments were sent to eligible Class Members in late January 2026. If you chose to receive a digital check, you received an email from noreply@clearpathpayments.firsthorizon.com with a digital check payable from the Lopez v. Apple Inc. Qualified Settlement Fund. These are legitimate payments from the settlement.

Please confirm your mailing address, or provide your updated address, to request a paper check reissue. Please be advised that paper check reissue requests will not be mailed for approximately 1-2 months and will only be reissued if the e-check remains outstanding.

Thank you,
Lopez Voice Assistant Settlement Administrator

For those not wanting to give out banking info.
I emailed them a week ago asking for a paper check.
I received an email back today and they said they will mail one out in 1-2 months.

just looked at a paper check that my mother wrote to me recently. when I logged into her online bank account, I could see the cancelled check. The back of the check was printed with my own bank's routing number and my acct number. Is this not supposed to happen?

Not a scam. I got 40 bucks deposited to my Venmo from this.

Venmo provides you an account number and routing number so you don’t have to give out bank info.

Go to profile, settings, direct deposit, and you can find that info in the iOS app
