You're probably done with tracking, but did Fedex update your tracking page to "delivered"?

There's probably a few different routes/drivers in the area, but some of them are probably combined, since, for example, Playa del Rey is so small...

don't think they would put the CC and ES together because theyre not that close in relation to some other cities. I think Playa would be put with the Marina though. I could see ES, MB, HB and north RB together though. who knows...there's a lot of big corporate buildings on the E side of Sepulveda in ES so they probably have a truck just for ES. I really have no idea though.
 
don't lose hope, I just clicked on the track shipment from the email from Apple and it still says "at destination sort facility" in los angeles.

so do not worry, it'll be there soon!

I would recommend anyone who doesn't think it'll make it today, but was told by Apple it will, call 1-800-455-4588 (as mentioned by OP) and get more updated info. My status says that it's in LA (edit: told it's in LA by SimpleTracking, but FedEx site says it's in Oakland, CA), but she told me it was on the van for delivery by 4:30pm. She was also really cheerful and nice. When I called the regular customer service line, but automated and the CSR told me Thursday.

Location: Long Beach (Belmont Shore)
Ordered through: Apple (Received "23rd" email)
Current FedEx Status on Site: Departed FedEx Location: Oakland, CA
Current SimpleTracking.com Status: LA - Arrived at FedEx Ramp
Info from FedEx IPD (1-800-455-4588): On Van for Delivery.
Delivered: Not yet.

Yep, I am hoping that our phones are really somewhere at a sort facility in L.A. and the Fedex site is just completely wrong but it seems like people who are getting their phones today are at least seeing a scan somewhere in the continental U.S.

Burbank - just got mine! It was sent priority and always slated to be delivered today before 10:30 AM.

Nice plain outer shipping box so no one would think it's an iphone.
 
The folks at the 1-800-455-4588 number are super friendly and quick. Same story as most of you: website says it's at the sort facility for delivery tomorrow; phone rep said it's on the truck for delivery by 4:30 today.

I know the feeling, we modern humans are spoiled by automated technology, here is a script for you to make it easy: (They are super nice there, and tons of people are calling in about their iPhones, so they know what's going down)

Call the number: 1-800-455-4588

You will probably be put on hold at first and then:
Them: Hi Welcome to FedEx IPD how can I help you
You: Yeah I would like to check the status of a package
Them: Sure what is the tracking number
You: (Tell them your tracking number)
Them: (They will confirm your name)
You: Yeah
Them: (Then they will tell you the status)
You: Thank you very much and have a good day
