This makes no sense, assuming it's the same H2 chip. Giving new features exclusive to same-generation devices will create a lot of confusion. Not that I care about this feature, but it's a weird marketing move
This is the most confusing update ever - I agree

When I get it right, the airpods pro can just use loseless audio with vision pro but not the macbook or iPhone?
Today I went to the apple store and bought a new macbook air and got the air pods pro with the back to school. They gave me the ones with the lightning case. Therefore, the old one right? But if they just changed something for the vision pro, it doesn't matter, right?

Is it possible to just buy the new USB-C case and use it with existing AirPods Pro 2?

For $3499, I would think the audio would be included as part of the headset package, quite frankly.
Seems half-baked to put on the headset and then stick the airpods in my ears to get ready to use the whole experience.
Yeah, that's like a no brainer.....or it comes with a free pair of AirPods Max or something. I mean Christ, for me and I make way above median income near six figures, $3499 is a huge ask. I don't even spend that on a Mac except for twice a decade to upgrade my power laptop. And it's not like I can take the thing anywhere and not be either robbed or mocked.

In this form factor you do not hear the difference between backwards compatible 320 kBit / s MP3 and Apple Lossless (both 48 kHz).
In this form factor, I look like I'm going to swim with dolphins. Apple does realize people can buy a 65" TV and get the same basic experience without the "3D Desktop" AR stuff that is mostly a gimmick?

Agree! But even if the cost wasn't the concern, I feel like a device that claims it provides an immersive VR experience should consider the audio included as part of what's purchased!

This would be like buying a new television and them telling you, "Sorry... you only get the picture with this set. If you want sound too? You've got to spend $249 for our speakers made just to add that functionality to it."

But the TV makes more sense, as speakers take up room and a sound bar isn't that expensive. Plus, I use HomePod Minis for my sound with AppleTV, so $200 extra? Still came in at $900 for the Crystal UHD Samsung 75", $200 for HomePod Minis in stereo, and AppleTV 4k (newest) was $179? So, still under $1400, 2000 less than a Scuba Mask with Audio sold separately
