I mean I can. When I plug corded headphones and listen to Spotify vs Apple Music, there is a clear difference... which is a shame, because Spotify is a clear winner app, and interface-wise, Apple Music is terrible in comparison but the sound quality is clearly superior on AM because of Lossless.

But on AirPods Pro, would you be able to tell?

I wouldnt be so angry if this were available on the iPhone 15 Pro. I would buy these new buds in a second.

Don’t get me wrong, improvements are good and this sucks for those who bought the Pro 2 with lightning. But let’s be real, no one will be able to tell the difference in audio quality anyway.
latency is key. i use music tracking software on the ipad and iphone. this functionality represents the ability to track via wireless headphones because the latency will finally be low enough to do it. this is a major deal. of course leave it to apple to only allow it on vision pro and not the iphone/ipad. piece of crap company.

this really is one of the weirdest f—king moves I’ve seen Apple make in a WHILE and I can tolerate a lot of their nonsense 😂 ugh

Does anyone know what "massive reduction in latency" means beyond AppleMarketSpeak(TM)?

How many ms latency is it?

Recording studios worldwide would like to know.
Thats the problem.. Recording studios world wide are not supported. Only the lame vision pro.

We'll know when the Vision pro becomes available but this just smells like a wrong interpretation of the press release. It seems that Apple just consistently uses the name "AirPods Pro (2nd generation) with USB‐C" in the press releasee. Not providing the same lossless experience with the old charging case just doesn't make sense and is not what this press release is explicitly saying.

So, I have to buy a $250 product on top of a $3499 product just to get lossless audio? huh......

Why is this thing gonna be the next big thing again?

From the price to the features, I don't really see what's groundbreaking.
For $3499, I would think the audio would be included as part of the headset package, quite frankly.
Seems half-baked to put on the headset and then stick the airpods in my ears to get ready to use the whole experience.

Yeah the press release is confusing. This is my chat with an Apple rep today. Sounds like Lightning APP2s are supported.

This reminds me of Animal House (I am dating myself here) where the pledges are told to bend over and get whacked. And then say "Thank you sir, may I have another". Here Apple is Nedermeyer and Apple users are the pledges.

Apple Meeting with Tim

Tim: Alright people, we need to name our new Airpods Pros

We have

Airpods Pro

Airpods Pro 2

Naturally the next airpods pros should be called

Airpods Pro 2

New Employee: oh, wait.. shouldnt it be…

Old timer: you obviously know how things work around here. Its obviously as follows

Airpods Pro
Airpods Pro 2
Airpods Pro 2
New Airpods Pro
Airpods Pro Max
Airpods Pro Max Ultra
Airpods Pro Plus

"It is completely bizarre and unreasonable if the USB C AirPods Pro are required to work with the Vision Pro, and the same generation AirPods Pro bought a week ago don’t."

If you're a shareholder, it's not completely bizarre and unreasonable. 😏

I can understand why people WANT to be confused. But from my view, they are not calling it a 3 because it’s not a revamp. Just an update to the current 2nd gen. People who made a purchase last year with the lightning port, shouldn’t be overly angry. Yes they added something a year later but I’m sure all of you will survive your purchase with the lightning port because the features that your AirPods have are fine but technology moves quickly. Just keep your current ones until they do make an AirPods 3

This is great news. Not b/c of this combination of VisionPro and AirPods Pro 2, but b/c Apple finally proved that their standard for lossless audio is possible over Bluetooth.

This proves it is possible when the transmit distance is just 2". If does not prove that it would necessarily work with a MacBook, iPhone or iPad where the distance is higher and there is more likely to be quite a bit of body tissue between the receiver and the transmitter. BLE distance is limited at higher speeds.

48kHZ at 20bits = 2Mbps without compression. This happens to correspond to the maximum transfer speed offered by Bluetooth 5 (over LE). This also happens to give ~ 1ms latency due to not being compressed. Low latency is likely a better benefit than the lack of lossy compression artifacts.

They keep mentioning it is possible due to the H2 chip which means it isn't purely reliant on BT.

That's idiotic, but you really can't even tell the difference between lossless and high quality lossy audio on the AirPods Pro 2. So for 99.999% of people, it won't make a difference.

This is a load of horse ****. Apple going to claim a bunch of crap but let’s call it what it is. This is apple doing force obsolete plan and simple. This is also why this is why you don’t buy apple items like this exact reason.
