Have you looked at how much it would cost you to pay off the early termination fee? AT&T's ETF is $175, however they take $5 off of that each month you have been under your current contract. It would still be cheaper for you to pay off the ETF, even if it is the full $175, and just sign up for another 2 year contract and get the iPhone 3Gs or the BB Bold. If they quoted you $500 for a new iphone, then you would save $125 ($175 etf + $199 3gs = $375) by paying the ETF.
Now as far as which phone is better...I've had both the Bold and the iPhone 3G and I would say that what the iPhone lacks it the calling department it more than makes up for in the media playing ability.
