Seriously? C'mon, man.

It's apparent you not only hate AT&T, but are lying.

One call to AT&T and no one will have access to using the phone. Period.

Before acting like a know it all, it's a good idea to get honest with yourself.
Wrong vitzr, you may think you are funny or witty with your random posts about AT&T but please don't quote me and state that I am lying. However you might want to look closely in the mirror

The best that AT&T will do is deactivate the Micro-SIM tied to the account. This does nothing to prevent the finder / thief as they will 'have acces to using the phone." AT&T does not blacklist IMEIs. AT&T has chosen not to care how a lost or stolen AT&T device is reused.

The CDMA carriers here in the USA block the ESN on devices reported lost or stolen. That's why everyone wants a clean ESN when purchasing on Craiglist or eBay for example.

How do you guys lose a $650+ phone that you've had for less than 3 months?
I saw a status on my FB 2 days ago that said and I quote "iv lost my 8th iphone.......why".

I wanna feel sorry for you guys cause accidents happen, but I'm not. My mother taught me to take care of my things.

Noone is asking you to feel sorry for anyone.
Accidents and mishaps do happen, I personally never lost a cellphone before but that day it just happened.
It doesnt matter if its an expensive item or if someone had it for less than 3 months or whatever. $#it happens I guess, life goes on.
I just ordered a factory unlocked one from Apple. But wont have it for at least 10+ days. Maybe it will do me good to remember it for next time while Im stuck with this POS Moto Razr.

Lol :D
True, but if it could be blacklisted like in most countries you wouldnt really need a self destruct switch:D
It would be useless as a phone.

I still don't like people getting away with the worlds best ipod touch.

Your mention of a self destruct button reminded me of a time long ago when I worked in car audio - I had a customer who owned a Porsche 944 and he had a pull out Kenwood cassette player - an expensive one back then was around $500 - Now this gentlemen would religiously pull out the stereo and bring it in - but 3 times over the course of 90 days, someone broke his window and stole the sleeve.
He asked me what we could do, I tried to sell him an alarm, but he didn't want it going off - he suggested that I solder fish hooks to the sleeve - I thought it an interesting idea - but didn't want to be sued.
Turns out he was a judge and had a release made up - we both signed and the hooks were in.
No less than a week later, he came by the shop to show me the blood soaked carpet of his Porsche.... we never replaced it again...

Ahh the 80's - when you could get away with small acts of ultra - violence.

That is awesome

Pardon my ignorance - but are you saying if someone restores the phone it can be used?

I'm with Verizon (USA) and always thought if the phone is stolen - you call the phone company and they kill it (at least in the states)...

Can a stolen/lost iphone be "reflashed" and reused even if Verizon has marked it as lost/stolen?

Or is this a SIM/GSM issue?

I am curious…..anyone?

I live in LA... they'll surely not give a $h!t about helping me.

This…Police can't do about it because LA is way too BIG city! I wish I didn't have to live in Los Angeles!!

Well, technically you don't have to live anywhere you don't want to. It may be a pain to relocate, but it can be done.

AT&T will blacklist the iPhone, but only if you have insurance through them. If you have insurance through them then they will replace your iPhone AppleCare won't.

The reason att will blacklist an iPhone on insurance, is because it is fraud if someone brings in a lost/stolen iPhone to have activated that a claim has been filed on.

How does that work? Police told me not to deactivate iPhone so they can track stolen iPhone but I know police is not doing anything anyway.

For future reference, I'd like to ask a question. Let's say your iPhone is stolen and the thief is dumb enough to keep it turned on. You have Find My iPhone enabled, so you figure out the iPhone's location. Should you call the cops, go find and confront the thief yourself, or take some other course of action?

You do not want to confront this garbage. Just print out the stuff for the police with your contact info for updates and check back a couple times. All you can do.

If you wanted to be an annoying twit you could take it to the news if the police don't do anything "I handed them proof and they wouldn't do anything" but honestly they will likely blow you off too.

Good advice. I doubt if most people would want to get shot because of a phone.

what if they register the phone with iTunes when they restore it would it be able to be tracked then
