I was going to say, I took a lot of notice when our school did hieroglyphs. Didn't know the sentence or the pronunciation but I spotted I and A (or was it E?) in the countdown timer. funny. before I knew what was happening my mind was attempting to translate it! way before "oh bugger the timers gone off!"

I just thought I'd let anyone that's interested know that the hieroglyphs on the display actually mean "sewedja" which is ancient egyptian for a causative "die" so its basically saying "you're going to die because of this".
Its on p218 of the Concise Dictionary of Middle Egyptian by Raymond O Faulkner - The Griffith Institute. The second letter didn't get shown in episode 14 but that's the only word that matches up with all the other letters in the whole book. Nothing else even comes close.
Pretty scary, huh!
I'm a bit of an amateur egyptologist. :)

Wow.

So wait... are you saying you paged trough the entire book looking for matches? That's dedication.

I can't speak for Egyptian text but when you're looking up Chinese characters there is a pretty easy method to find the one you're looking for. I haven't looked up a Chinese character in a long time but it was something like how many strokes it has in the character and what the "root" pattern was... I'm sure Egyptian text has a similar methodology.

Watch the iTunes Music Store preview of this short film. Recognize anyone?
Indeed. I was surprised, his role is almost completely insignificant in the short.

Very off topic, have any of you seen The Last Farm short on iTunes? Holy smokes. So well done, and so sad.

what a opening 5 minutes.. i think we now know why Desmond was taking those meds...

edit: just me, or did that woman look like a highly cleaned up version of rosseau?
edit2: hm. maybe not SO far from the truth...

edit3: can someone explain to me what that scene with Eko was about? i really didn't understand the significance.

She was Alexandra, Rousseau's daughter, born 15 years ago when they first got to the island. She helped Claire escape from Ethan and her other captors, and get back into the jungle, and then her mom (Rosseau) helped Claire get the rest of the way back to the regular Losties.

Didn't Kate find a box of medicine in that locker? What happened to it?

Did you notice that Sun hesitated when Claire asked her if she was a mother, and then in the preview for next week Sun tells Sawyer she needs a pregnancy test?

Did you notice that when Claire talked to the "shrink" she was holding a fake plastic Aaron? A pretty poor job by the prop department.

It wasn't medicine. The bottle she pulled out was "theatrical glue" after which she pulled out a fake beard, indicating that "Zeke" is not quite as ragged and worn as we are led to believe.

So we've got lockers with costumes for the others, a mysterious passage that Claire walked by on the way to the nursery, and we know that the others clothes aren't nearly as ragged as we're led to believe.

My initial thoughts are that the mysterious passage is Island access for the Dharma project and they were/are using the bunker as their "locker room" when they want to mess with the heads of the Flight 815 survivors. The "lists" are made so that they can background check everyone and taylor their experiment by culling the heard of people that could skew the experimental results. Of course my past track record with theories tells me that this is probably not the case.

Anyone else think Lost is getting a little to political?? You have "Mr. Ecko" the God-Fearing Christian who saves everyone, Claire thinking that the only way her baby will be safe is to "baptize" him, and last but certainly not least or insignificant is the "others"(dangerous people/moralless liberals perhaps?) wanting to take Claires baby and poke him with needles............can you say pro-life anyone????????

Alright this time I mean it one more little subliminal message about why I should be a Christian and I will not watch another episode under any circumstance unless Kate bares it all.

Was that Zeke (minus the beard) arguing with Ethan in the doorway of the baby's room?

Yep, that threw me off at first, but then you see Kate find the fake beard and dirty tuque, and worn out clothing and then it all clicks.

What were they arguing about?

At the door he says

Zeke; "What the hell happened? You were supposed to make the list, and then bring her in. Was I unclear?"

Ethan; "It's not my fault. they knew I wasn't on the plane, they had a manifest"

Zeke; "What am I suppose to tell him, you know what he's going to do when he finds out.. Dammit Ethan"

Question is, who is Him? Season two cliffhanger? This should be interesting.

28 years on the island has left Mr Roarke bitter and twisted and the electromagnetism of the island has made Tattoo into and unwilling pawn in Mr. Roarke's game to find a suitable replacement. Everytime Tattoo points to the sky and yells "the plane!!" the plane crashes into the island.

Hang on, isn't Ethan dead???
